my freind and i found some really old weed at his dads house and we smoked it but it wasnt that great, can weed lose strength if its old?

It can definitely lose potency as it dries, but I've smoked weed that was over 2 years old and I still got baked from it.

to some extent it loses potency, but for the most part well dried buds burn nice... how old is really old anyway?
