Stuck between VCT sizes. I seek your wisdom.

To start off I am 5'10" and 150 pounds and I need to decide between 189 and 182 VCT's. I will be using them as my general soft snow ski. Right now I am leaning toward 182's due to my size and weight.

I've heard that VCTs ski and/or measure a little short so it looks like the 182's might be a little shorter than i want, and the 189's might be a little longer than i want. I ski 185 karmas right now as my everything but park ski.

I ski pretty aggressively and prefer Open bowls with chopped up powder rather than trees with untouched powder, BUT i would still like to ski trees ocassionally. I would hate to get a ski to long to get myself out of sticky situations, but i would also hate to find out that my ski is too short to do likewise.

SO my question is, do you think that 182 VCTs will be wide/firm enough to still charge, or do VCTs measure short enough that my average built self could still throw them around at 189 cm?

Hope that wasn't too long, +Karma to anyone who's willing to give their opinion.

I will also be mounting fairly far up, like -5 or 6 from center, so that may also contibute to me being able to handle 189 cms.

i'd say 189, might be weird at first, but you'll get used to it and it will be better down the road once you are used to it

182 man. Don't go with 189's because you know all the cool kids go with bigger skis these days... Pff. Get the ski that fits you right son, a bit shorter will be much more fun and playful, rather than the clumsiness of a longer ski. Just my personal opinion.

ive ridden both (im smaller than you 5'7, 150) and i would say the 189's because they arent that much more ski and plus more ski is your friend for going fast, floation, stomping especially if you are mounting forwards.
