Street skiing questions.

The boys and I wanted to make a ski movie last year but at the end of the season I realized we all sucked way to bad to show anyone. so I deleted like all clips. This year all of us are much better. My third season ever, but I made a stupid decision to buy 1000skis and I heard last year on two planker pod Emmet would at the very least cut a good deal for me if we sent a video in. And I don't know what to call that except a lie but in any case we decided that since I'm broke but need skis we will go see what clips we can get in our home town Taylor's falls mn to send to him. The day after we went Emmet was back on the podcast and I lost all hope but I discovered something.

I discovered how rewarding it is to street ski! It takes real work and ingenuity you can get so much more creative and you feel like it's an un touched powder day because your almost certain nobody has ever skiid where you just did.

On the crew I had Ike for filming kyler for the winch literally, and I skiid but it was almost impossible to get enough speed because we had a normal rope I held onto while the other guy ran so that night we each pitched in 50$ and bought a banshee bungee. But here we rin into a problem that thing is extremely hard to pull back it takes all three of us to pull it back then the filter has to run back into position while I try to clip on and not slide away at the same time. Any hacks? I know the best answer is bigger crew but all of us are homeschooled so we don't know alot of people.

None of us could even drive two weeks ago. So I had mom drop us off so we were stuck in town for 6hrs but now Ike and I both have our licenses

I see

need new skis + have no money = start a ns thread about how broke you are and how much you like street to convince Emmett to send you skis

i like it

Find spots with natural speed. Or ones you can set up a wooden drop-in and hit, such has down rails / down to kink combos. Even makes a big difference when a spot isn’t a super steep down rail and the in run isn’t super steep either, dropin and some speed rollers could be all it takes to change the score and get you ample speed.

Don’t make this video for Emmett. For Vishnu. For those homies that you aren’t too fond of and want to prove yourself for.

make this video for yourself. Make something that you guys are happy with, something that you guys like. Keep that your #1 priority and I promise everything else will fall into place.

The issue is our town is super small, has like 6 rails and you need a bungee for all of them

Ok so what do we do when we break a rail but haven't made it all the way yet? Do we keep hitting till we get it or the rail falls over or try to respect the town more?

Ike we never even went up angel hill there is lots of rails up there but remember we couldn't drive at the time. And how we didn't want to hike an icy mountain in ski boots?

I see. Honestly life gets a whole lot easier when you have ur drivers license. Easy to go hit stuff / scope spots.

skiing pre-drivers license for me sucked, street skiing wasn’t even a thought in my mind and I was lucky if I could get a ride to the hill once every 2 weekends.

Yeah I'll be there but nobody else of the friend group will be. Ikes scared of people kyler got grounded and the other 2 don't care about skiing. So hey let's meet up !

Yeah now we can go to other places around and not just get dropped off, luckily I have two older brothers that used to ski a lot so I didn’t have an issue get to trollhaugen

Ike is scared of people?

[tag=282171]@Agate420[/tag] you will have no shortage of skiers to hang out with. This and Master Shredder are the two weekends when the skier population will outnumber the snowboarders

then go drive around to other cities like everyone else im sure y'all are 16 or older

Well y'all can drive now, use google street view to find any obvious rails around your area. You could always take a trip down to suburbs around the St Paul area.

Will do, thanks for the tip

Best investment for getting speeds is a drop in imo. you can rig something up with a ladder and a sheet of plywood if it comes to that. or you could build a drop in out of snow. tons of snow in taylors falls rn

I don't recall him saying that he'll send skis to everyone who sends him videos of street skiing. I imagine a lot of people sent him videos, so I wouldn't call it a lie.

It's taking you 3 people to pull a bungee back? First of all, hit the gym or move some square hay bales or something. It should take 1 or two people to pull the bungee back to the skier who should already be in their bindings and can hold in place with their edges until they're ready to go. Also if you have a 10 foot bungee, that's pretty useless. You need the 20 footer to get decent speed.

Idk man we are pretty strong It was a traction issue. But basically what people are saying is hit down hill rail or get a bigger crew.

ight, i’ll prolly be in red saga pants n mango 100s

I'll be in tan wind breaker pants from the 90s that are blood stained. And ripped really bad on the bottoms. And I don't know what skis. Could be 1000s could be magnus 90s could be fauna alparkas. White hat though.

You guys like buildin shit.

Build an A frame drop in connect each side of the A with chains so it folds up easy. Should take a few 2x4s, 2 chainz, 2 bolts for hinges and some screws.

speed wise, you just gotta get a little creative sometimes. natural speed is king but hard to find. one strat is find natural speed and spots will come, but that doesn't always happen in a small town. being pulled behind a car works, wooden a frame drop in, build a snow drop in(this takes a phat minuete). I know the forre guys are always building little snow dropins and having the rest of the crew pull them with a snow shovel for more speed. what works, works. the strictly guys even used a lime scooter for speed in a most gutter clip.
