Street League

Surprised there wasn't a thread about this when I searchbar'd it... if there is sorry.

Street League is an authentic skate competition made by Rob Dyrdek. Rob made his own competetion where skaters go through different sections where they have to skate different things. Nyjah Huston, Sean Malto, Chris Cole, Paul Rodriguez, Chad Ortiz, Shane O'Neill, and Torey Pudwill. Nyjah ended up winning it all. Paul Rodriguez really couldn't get it going. The whole competition was pretty dope. Dyrdek used his TV power to get some primetime spots on ESPN2. It was nice seeing skating on TV instead of just on TheBerrics. The only part that kinda sucked was that Rob Dyrdek and Steve Berra commentated, I like how they did it because they are actual skaters but their skills as commentators aren't as good as sportcasters. Nyjah Huston ended up winning, he got $150,000, 2nd i believe was $70,000

Anyone watch it? Good/Bad for skating? Thoughts?

I watched it. It was sick. I'm glad I don't have to only look forward the the X-Games and Dew Tour as the only skateboarding events.

anybody who says this is bad for skating is retarded. it's putting the realest skating on a level comparable to "regular" sports like football basketball and baseball. skateboarding is going to become america's next huge pastime as time goes on, and i'm glad the correct people are behind the street league operation. Now skiing and snowboarding (at least rail/jibwise) needs to follow this trend or else this style of skiing will be left behind in the dust.

i originally thought the entire thing was just setup to give money to p-rod.

but im glad they didn't actually do it up that way.

I watched it and it was really dope. Good commentating (Rob wasn't an idiot), and the course was good. I think this is great for skating.

pretty much thoughts exactly.

I think itd be sooo sick if they had a street leauge-ish thing in Mount Hood. I think newschoolers needs some more exposure. When I tell ppl i ski, they look at me funny and ask y not snowboarding. I facepalm, and just think of ns.

watched it last night and it got me soo stoked. I actually thought rob and steve were great commentators and i loved the scoring system along with the different sections. skiing really needs something like this

most real street contest ever. sounds like everyones really stoked on the format. and its nice to see a contest run by skaters for skaters, with none of the espn marketing getting in the way.

also sick to see kids like shane, malto, etc in a contest for once.

btw, shane o'neill is way too good at skateboarding
