Straight Airs

I'm having trouble and I'm really pissed about it.
I can 1, 3, and 5 and I consider myself to be a decent overall park skier but I've been trying to figure out different grabs with spins lately and I've run into a serious problem... I can no longer straight air. I am just trying to tuck up and grab some nice mutes with straight airs so that I can grab the shit out of them on my 3's. When I get in the air I can grab safety but that is it, if I lean forward to grab the mute I always fuck up, my straight airs are so disgusting. Can anyone help me, I would very much appreciate it so that this weekend I can figure out straight airs and move onto grabbing my spins.
Thank you! Karma to good help

go off the lip straight, do not initiate any spin or move towards any grab as long as you're taking off.once you're completely in the air, do your grab.....

I guess you're kinda right here, but I see kids doing little mutes on straight airs and for some reason. I'm can spin pretty well, I just can't figure out grabs. I think the whole tuck your knees to my hands not my hands to my knees will solve this problem though. Tomorrow I'll figure it out, thanks to those who helped.

Bring the grab to you, do not go down for the grab.....

Concentrate on bring your knees up and together when you pop, reach down and the ski should be there... if not, you will lean forward....

I don't think this makes a lot of sense. For nearly two decades and maybe even longer skiers have been straight airing and doing grabs, no spin required. You said you don't see the point. What's the point in any of this- it's just fun.

I was trying to grab critical, just straight aring it, and it was not good at all. So sloppy and nasty looking I was getting quite pissed!

Realize that some grabs need the other arm to be at some wacky angle to stay balanced if you aren't spinning. Mute for example, if I grab in a straight air, needs one hand grabbing a ski and my other one up in the air, otherwise it throws me off like you're saying.

Other than that it's what everyone else is saying, bring the skis up to you, don't bend down to get them.
