Stowe park riders unite

Stowes upper management thinks they dont need a Lg Park, they were going to go back to Tyro the old park trail but they feel N Slope (med) and the pipe is all we need. I for one feel otherwise, the last park on Tyro was respectable but moving to Main St was a mistake and that has left a bad taste in their mouth. I for one want a Lg Park and Tyro has the most potential, I think if we can unite and be respectful we (all who share this opinion) should get on Stowes web site and contact them to let them know we want Tyro as a Large Park and maybe get them to see the light. Once again let's be respectiful, we buy passes and our $$$ should work for us.

Info@stowe.com " We would like the Tyro Park back please" is all that needs to be said.

What are components that would be lost if they were to use a Md sized park? Is it elements or just spacing? I know the set up was a bit dangerous last season, with landing zones overlapping drop-ins. I'm all for the park being the best it can be, but could you outline the differences?

i've got to say, it sounds like a really wierd idea to cut the amount of terrain features knowing full well that just 2 hours south of you, Mt Snow has 150% increased its dedication in just one off season. I know the cliantle (spelling) up there is different in big ways, but its a proven fact that teenagers drive vacation destinations in families and teenagers want to hit well built and maintained terrain parks. It's just fact. (transworld business, SAM Magazine...)

Not building 80 foot jumps... they (you're management) may have something there. Not building 50 -60 foot jumps, as Stowe, does not make sense to me. Stowe see's more expert skiers than most on the east coast, and should be looking for ways to challenge those skiers and riders, WHILE maintaining a fun and enjoyable experience for its novice customer base (that's where you're job and expertise comes in) It is 100% possible to build ANY feature that is both entertaining to experts and safe for novices. I promise. If you're management wants another opinion have them call me.

I was a pass holder there from 99-03. I saw the evolution through those years... You guys have come a long way since then and are entirely capable of managing impressive parks. You gotta convince them to have a little faith in your experience, talents, and drive.

With less and less natural snow being the likely case for the future, terrain parks seem like a fairly obvious choice to offer expert skiers who aren't recieving enough powder days on the hour glass, down hell brook or hiking out of the bruce. The added advantage? Novice skiers can now witness expert skiing on the very same trails they are skiing down and will aspire to learn how to be like the experts they see. It's addictive. it's how we all got better.

i go now

If you don't understand, yes we will have N Slope med park and we will have a pipe on Lower Standard but they want to do away with the large park all together. So if we let them know we want Tyro back as a Lg park that should help them make the final decision. Unite!!!! I want it for you who want it, who wants it?

I can't believe they're pulling that shit, they really just don't get it and I'm afraid they never will.

Kurt your the man for pushing so hard and I give you all the props in the world. But I honestly don't think Stowe is ever going to wise up and see the value of terrain parks. For every step forward they seem to take 2 steps back. You know you have my full support, but I tried to tell them how important terrain parks are for 2 years, look where that got us.

Now now, I share the frustration, but this did have a good impact on the big dogs. With all your emails that came to the resort it helped out in a big way, I did recieve confirmation that, Yes we will have a Lg Park on Tyro, the 1/2 Pipe will be on Lower Standard with a rail garden below it and N. Slope will still be the Med Park and a Sm. Park at the Midway surface tow and a bonus feature on Spruce at the base of the Sunny Spruce lift just up from the new base lodge, it will change up every few weeks to a jump or a rail or both.

So I must thank all of thoes who spoke up for themselves, it had a positive impact and in the end they listened to the customer, you. Sometimes they just need a friendly reminder who we are donig all this work for, THE PEOPLE WHO SUPPORT OUR RESORT!

Thanks for all the support, I'll keep the info comming as it happens.

I don't like that I showed you the not so pretty side of things, I don't want to portray a sort of us against them but I felt it was needed to get this issue sorted out. I have presented them with all the info that NSAA and SAM mag puts out there about the state/fate of resorts and more importantly terrain parks and the impact of the next generation (you guys) of ticket buyers/passholders who will, in 10 yrs be the driving force in the industry and who will be running the industry. In short I feel that together, we have made ourselves and our desires know. Well I'm listening, and will continue to make sure we have a voice.
