Storage Help

Yooo, recently I've gotten way more busy with my filming and photo work (personal and client wise) and have found myself running out of space fast. Currently I'm running an iMac setup and just two lacie hard drives (1 1TB, 1 2TB) and am looking for a storage solution and have found endless options, but never any preference or recommendation over one another by others. Basically I'm looking for something I can backup onto and possibly edit off of so I don't have to fill my computers internal hard drive up. My budgets also fairly small for storage (under $500) What do you recommend? What's the best system that's worked for you?

Up until recently more LaCie drives, but considering the internet speeds in the Netherlands I recently went full cloud based.

If that's not an option, just add more drives, LaCie D2's can be daisy chained together if you don't want the full NAS option.

I'm definitely leaning towards raid

I recommend getting a NAS so you can access your files off any device on your network and have a live-time backup of your Mac, or even over the internet. I'm rockin a WD MyCloud 4TB version and it suited me quite well until now cause I've filled it up so I'm probably going to build a NAS probably in raid 10 so I got the speeds of raid 0 and the redundancy of raid 1. The MyCloud is great cause you can access your files from anywhere basically and its great for sharing bunch of footage with other people with a link directly to your NAS without having to upload the files on some site. Also heard some good stuff about the Synology NAS but never tried it myself.
