Stolen Bike

-k to skierman, youre an asshole.
OP, i think you should call up santa barbara police and tell them everything youve been through, and thell them that its your grandmothers bike.

1:invite big friends

2: drive up to SB and regardless of the costs it will teach the guy a lessson

3:????????????
4:profit.

someone doesnt like reading posts...

like how op locked his bike with a u lock and was gone for an hour. aint no lock like a fuckin u lock

this kids a fucking tool. people hate kids like you. but im sorry you grew up with such a horrible condition:/ truly unfortunate. and btw its skierman* faggot/ i guess gingers cant spell.

with regards to the thread, if you really want the bike you're going to have to make the trek. the fact of the matter is local police, however petty the shit they're already busy with, aren't really going to care about your bike. if it's that important to you, go take that bitch back! bring some big friends, show interest in the bike, then just take it back.

what are you supposed to do in this situation?

it just happened to two of my friends, one with a 600+ dolla bike and one with oakley frogskins

he just has to prove that it's his bike. apparently, the bike has distinct markings on it that he can identify without seeing the bike, so that's pretty solid proof. if the guy is reasonable, he'll give it back.

that's so fucked up on principle though haha. buyers can be held liable if they purchase stolen gear, whether they're aware it was stolen or not. i understand it's not the buyers problem that the bike was stolen, but what can you do?

but seriously, if you're gonna take action i would do it soon before someone buys that thing

Just to clear some things up, this guy is definitely the one who stole it/ knows it is stolen because I asked him how long hes had it for and he said about a year and also he posted it like 5 days after it was stolen.

just go get it, stop being lazy, if it were mine i would go get it in a heartbeat. HERES WHAT YOU DO: act as if your buying it, park down the street a bit, ask for a test ride, have friends in get away vehicle, ride to car, put bike on rack, book shit home.

bam done

/end thread

i dont think that would be necessary...

1100 miles away for a bike? its a tough decision, but a road trip would sound pretty bomb too...especially to south california...

Just out of curiousity - Why did insurance not cover this? Or was it a deductible issue?

I don't get it, what kind of insurance WOULD cover this??? Like homeowners or renters if it was stolen from your house, but it sounded like he was out riding it. Is there bicycle insurance?? I R A Noob.

H.O. or Renters typically covers personal property associated with the place of residence. Theft of the item even if stolen from beyond the property can frequently be claimed under insurance. Skis are included in this as well.

I am just wondering if the OP's policy had an exclusion, or if it was a deductible issue. (IE - bike was $1,000 new, depreciation brought the value down to $500, and there was a $500 deductible, resulting in no net claim to be paid).

I had no idea they covered shit that wasn't on you're property. Guess I should really get that renter's insurance I'm supposed to have according to my lease haha.

why don't you just call and email the local police department where the dude lives and present all the evidence and ask them to retrieve it? is that not possible?

and skiierman when is the last time you got laid? your spite towards everything and everyone (well, unless theyre super cool amateur skiers) can only be played off as a joke for so long.. and tens of thousands of posts is way past that mark
