Stoko knee brace??

I'm coming off an acl tear and I'm cleared to ski once December arrives, but I switched insurance twice this year and I found out that since my injury occurred before I switched to my current insurance, they won't cover the cost of my knee brace and I have to pay retail price for it, which is like $800. Sucks but it is what it is. However, I have seen a lot of stuff about the stoko knee brace online over the past year or so and I was wondering if anyone has any experience using it. I'm still leaning towards getting the custom brace my surgeon recommended, but the fact that the stoko brace offers protection for both legs and that it's super low profile is intriguing.

Ask your surgeon what they think of the efficiency of the stoko brace. Or ask your rehab specialist if they think the stoko brace is right for where you are at physically.

two things from my perspective- how can something generic online be more effective then what is recommended by your surgeon and the person who as worked you thru recover for 6-8months? And two if you tear your knee again then that $ you thought you were saving is long gone and so is all the time you spent rehabbing and all the time you have to spend rehabbing again.

Aside from all that. Depending on your repair and your progress there are some orthopedic medical professionals who recommend no brace. I’d ask about that too and if it may apply to your case/replacement/rehab.

My surgeon told me rigid knee braces are a sham and can be physically/mentally damaging in the long run. Personally, I've found a soft brace does more as it increases blood flow to the area.

I had a minor mcl tear last year, went to the doctor after a while (stupid) but he said that the only time i would need a brace is when i would challenge myself physically. If i was just walking to school i would not need it. Ofc your injury is much more serious, and you had surgery for it, which changes a lot, but overall good to not be dependent on a brace
