Still photo camera??

i need a new still photo camera for christmas. m thinkin like a canon rebel or somethin in that realm. i just want some reccomendations on good ones.
i would be using it for shooting skiing, other sports, and landscapes.

I have the cannon rebel TXi and love it. The stock lens is shit I would highly recommend upgrading to one with an image stabilizer. but it takes some sick pictures and its pretty durable. I took it all through spain & a lot of time in the bush in kenya and it survived that plus many days on the hill and even a pretty big fall when it was in my pack.
probably about a 1000 buck investment but worth every penny
