Sticky Snow

Any tips for skiing on sticky slush snow? I felt quit unsafe on the mountain today cause the snow felt like glue.

Me too! damn near toppled over a few times because the snow is like a vacuum cleaner.

hot wax treatment that is suited for warm temps, and maybe some rub-on wax to keep in your pocket to re-apply as the day goes on

at some point there's not a lot you can do about it, sometimes the snow is just really sticky

From what I can tell you can basically forget it when conditions are "sticky". The situation I would be talking about would be where you get some fresh new snow on top of the end season slush we all love for park. Anything more about about 5cm is going to cause a significant problem when the sun gets at it and you're basically fucked. The only chance you may have is to get to the park early and scrape off as much of the new snow from the lines you want to ski before the sun hits it. You can't even use salt on that kind of snow to solve the problem, like you can with too much slush :-)

Often overlooked but when's the last time you had a base grind? No measure of wax will fix that stickiness and when I had that issue, it only presented itself on fresh and slushy snow. Hard pack was not noticeable.

Wax is key. And it doesn’t last long in the spring, only a couple days. A soft/yellow wax works well, or my favorite is graphite wax in the spring, especially if the snow is dirty.
