Sticky Rails or Skis?

I'm pretty new to free skiing, second year and last year I didnt really try anything big. But i've been recently been trying some bigger stuff and it seems like almost every time i try a flat bar i my skis stick and i fall or come off early. Is this because the rails are sticky? my edges are too sharp? I also havent waxed my skis this year so would that affect it? please help

i had this issue yesterday, in a rail park with about 6 rails. 2 of them were sticky so i just stuck to the non-sticky ones.

no pun intended

well first off its a good thing to wax your skis monthly. Also it might be your edges depending on how sharp they are. If they're still as sharp as the first day you got them then just take a file and file down a little bit of the edge underfoot.

Most of the time though its just the rail thats sticky. A lot of it has to do with weather, if its warmer out then rails are more likely to be sticky and vise versa.

I doubt the wax on your skis makes much of a difference. What kind of a 'stick' is it? If it's abrupt, it's probably your edges catching and you might have to detune your edges underneath your feet a bit, if it feels like the rail was waxed with gum, it needs to be re-waxed.

i havent sharpened my edges since i got my skis last season and after i got them i took a file to them... also i used them to get a bit of rust off of an urban rail hahait was like -15 or -12 Celcius today so im not sure if that would make them sticky... thanks for the help though

Yeah when it's cold moisture will freeze in a thin layer to metal, making most rails sticky. The rails need to be greased
