Stiches?

So last week I took a tumble on a rail cut my knee pretty deep, you could see the bone, went to the ER and got 5 stiches. The docter in the ER told me to call my docter in about 9 days to have them taken out. The problem is that it turns out that i have no health insurance other than a $6000 deductable. So im already going to be paying out my ass for the ER visit and i dont want to have to pay to have them taken out. So to avoid paying i plan on taking them out myself.

Has anyone else done this?

The stiches are not in one long strand its 5 seprate strands each tied in their own individual loop.

Any help or ideas on how to go about doign this would be reatly appreciated.

yeah you can do it yourself. my grandma pulled stitches out of my sister's knee and it all went well. just make sure to use a lot of cleaning alcohol, and drink a little alcohol yourself to dull the pain if the area hurts before hand

Yeah you'll be fine.

You want to take a pair of tweezers and then gently pull up on the protruding end of the stitches.

Then with medical scissors cut the stitch just below the knot and gently pull out the stitch with the tweezers.

Be sure to wash the area, tweezers and scissors before and after w/ antiseptic wipe

i got stitches on my face because i dived into a pool when i was like 9 and smoked my face

but they came out on their own

This is weird as shit. Because on Saturday I fell on a rail and was cut in the knee deep and have to get 5 stitches....Coincidence??????? I think not.

i did it for my arm (pic in profile) and what you do is you take tweezers you pull up the stitch which dosent feel good i might add. then you take medical scissors and cut. from there pull out the string with the tweezers from the knotted end. after you do that for all 5 stitches i would wrap with goz and medical tape to ensure that you don't allow dirt to get into any wound left.

Go in a pool, it will soften it and they might come out on there own. If not, do all of the above. It will hurt less if you go in water first
