STH, Pivot or Jester Pro, which one for awesomeness and durability

I'm trying to figure out what binding I want.

There's several options I have right now:

- STH 12 Driver

- STH 14 Driver

- FFG 16 Team (Just the Atomic version of the STH 16, right)

Any difference between these two except DIN?

- Pivot 14

- Pivot 18

I know the 14 has a plastic toepiece, where the 18 has metal.

- Jester Pro

Don't really know anything about this. Is it all metal? Anyone ridden these?

I don't really want a DIN 12 binding, so the STH 12 isn't really going to be it.

I've heard so many good things about the Pivot/FKS that I really want to try 'em out! I'm looking for a good combination of good releasing, durability and price.

I've told myself that a pair of Pivot 18's should last me about 20 years, is this true? Whereas a STH 14's could possibly break after 3 (or one) years of use.

Anyone think it's a good idea to whip out 220€ (on retail, normally they're 300€) for Pivots because it's a nice investment?

Pretty much happy with any input. What do you guys ski, and how do you like it?

jester pro is heavier than the normal jester and has more metal in the toe and the din goes up to 18

the fks/pivot are always good. they release well and have great durability. the only main problem are the brakes. if you want to move your brakes to another ski it may be a problem especially if the ski is wider, so you will have to bend them or send the whole binding to rossi/look to get brakes. you cannot buy breaks separate unless you buy off here, thrift shop......etc.

the salomon sth driver/atomic ffg series are amazing. the driver toe is the best for both companies. the standard toe will break and is mostly plastic. i have sth 14s mounted on my laroses and i beat my skis to hell on boxes and rails, and when i fell the bindings released when i needed them to. and they didnt prerelease. the good thing about salomon/atomic and marker is that their brakes are sold online from multiple retailers such as evo, ski.........etc.

if you have the amount of money and plan on keeping your bindings on similar skis (switching from an 84 mm waist to 88. not 88 to 123) then go with fks/pivots. if you want a slightly cheaper binding (not by build, but price) go with sth driver toe

I'm going to recommend Thr STH 16 or 14 Driver. I've been rocking the same pair of STH 16s for the past 4 seasons. They've out lasted 5 pairs of skis, along with any other piece of gear I've had. Getting another pair this season, for park and big mountain

STH are by far the strongest. i ski them hard and never once had a problem. the steal they have in them makes them super durable.

I ski on salomon sth driver for like 3 years now, they are very durable. But If you want a steel binding, salomon stell 16 are bomber, but they are like 500$.

Yup. I've got some s914s on my pro pipes (sth 14 driver with different paint job), and fks 155s on my hellbents.

FKS 155's or look pivot 15's. I have a pair of blue p15's and they are awesome, all metal, not overkill for me like the 18's, and should charge wicked hard this season. stoked to ride them! Check TGR, i see them for sale quite often.

I'm from Europe, so no nice second-hand stuff.

That being said, thanks a lot everyone! I really shouldn't be such an indecisive prick and just go order some binders already.

I just want to get my money's worth because I'm cheap...

Other/new input is always welcome of course!

This thread is a joke. Seriously, only one of the bindings is solid metal from boot contact to the ski. The pivot. The others may have metal in them, but fuck me if they are even close to as durable as a nice pair of P18s. I am using P18s (really Zrs) that are probably older then most of you. They are still kicking it.

If you brought up 916s, there might be a slight discussion on durability, but you didn't. STH have to much plastic in them.

Jester Pros? GET FUCKING SERIOUS! I could probably kick the toe piece off one of those plastic pieces of shit. That metal bar is good for scraping your snow off your boot and not much else.

every time i read one of your posts i think of Red Forman......i am scared that you just want to shove your ski boots up so many butts

^this, as over the top as cobra might seem at times, he is correct with every one of his posts
