STH 16 Review

Pros:

-Durable

-Look fly as fuck

-Release is incredibly consistent, saved me from at least 2 potential ACL tears even though my dins are pretty high (8)

-Heelpiece isnt shaped like a dildo so you can land on ur ass and still be able to walk for the next 2 days

Cons:

-Brakes suck and bend super easily, also have to be the right size or they literally won't work. I don't really care about having to un-bend my brakes but if that matters to you then it is definitely something you will find yourself doing at least a couple times a season.

-$300 isn't cheap, but they are less expensive than pivots and probably better

-Stack height or whatever for those that actually care about that, idek if its a con but apparently they kind of have a forward lean? I never noticed but that exists

Conclusion: I will buy another pair of STH 16's for all of my other skis using pivots or attacks because these bindings have probably saved me from 2 potential ACL tears this year and despite how poorly I treat my skis they are still almost mint, and I bought them used lol. Highly recommend for people that want sick bindings but would also like to pay less than Pivot price.

Thanks for reading.

Interesting. Did you get the mnc version? Any issues with the toes coming sloppy if so?

im adding a set of strive 16’s to my line up. Everything else pivot and one set of sth2 mnc’s

Define mnc and "toes coming sloppy" not sure what either of those mean lol

Multi Norm Compatibility. Works with DIN, GW, WTR, ISO9523, Crocs.

Not sure what people mean when they say the toes come sloppy, as long as your AFD is correctly adjusted that shouldn't ever be a thing

MNC was described below. It’s a one oh the versions of sth2’s.

The large screw in the top of the toe allows for toe height adjustment. You can also adjust the wings. I’ve heard reports of these adjustments coming loose over time which is why you hear a lot of people having pre releases.

it’s also the reason they removed the adjustable wings in the strive and the reason the GW doesn’t have the toe height adjustment screw.

i haven’t skied my sth2 16’s enough to have any issues like others complain of. Hoping the strives won’t have those toe issues.

The wing adjustments coming loose and causing pre release seems to be a common thing people complain about.

I’ve also heard of people shoving a new boot in non properly adjusted wings and basically destroying the adjustment mechanisms which creates slop in the toes.

it’s also a very common complaint that the toe height adjustment after a season comes out of spec and again causes pre releases. Might be from people wearing out their soles and not having adjustments for that over a season. Who knows but a simple Google search shows plenty of people complaining about pre release on sth2’s.

as mentioned it’s part of the reason the new gw version is a fully automatic toe and lost all the adjustment points.

I have MNC’s. The toe did get a little sloppy after a couple weeks but it weirdly fixed itself and is good now lol

Any idea if it seemed like it was coming from

The wing adjustments or the toe height?
