Stevens pass VS. summit at snoqualmie

stevens = better terrain/park

snocompton = closer to seattle, cheaper pass

so... it's up to you, but i've gotten one to snoqualmie since i was like....... 3?

ya i have riden snoqualmie since i was 3 too. but i might want to mix it up a bit. but then i miss out on alpy pow days

i actually just watched your edit. haha. i want to go skiing sooooo bad right now.

alpy pow days are the best

Before I give you an answer I have a few questions..1. What city do you live in?2. How good of a skier are you?3. What type of skiing interests you most?4. How much money do you have/make/are you willing to spend

1 bellevue2 advanced3 pow in winter, park in spring and abit threw winter4 my parents buy it

stevens may have a better jump line, but thats it.

snoqualmie beats stevens on everything else. wayyyyyy more jibs. more terrain to ski in general. and stevens doesnt hold a candle to Alpental and its bc.

snocompton is where its at. dont be mistaken.

jeeea but really stevens hands down over all better..ive skied at summit since i was four im 16 now but just this past season i went to stevens and its faaaar better..annnd i love how everyone is raving about alpys pow days when evvveryone knows its about 20 min or more to get up chair 2 on a good day its pretty ridiculous and you dont get that problem at stevens..as well as good terrain and the park arent seperate like how snoqual is and stevens park is just over all better. Finally stevens is higher up soooo no rain like how summit gets...

im done you should be convinced by now however the summit is cheaper but stevens is far worth it..

I would say stevens then. Stevens has more terrain for advanced skiers. I know that Alpental has Edelweiss and all those runs by uper international but stevens has very comparable runs but more of them. Also for park, yeah snoqualmie has a descent park but so does stevens. That I would leave up to personal preference. If your looking to go after class or work or whatever stevens is obviously about twice the drive like 1:45 if there's no traffic. I personaly ski at Crystal because of there huge variety of terain, but they don't have a park so that rules that out for you. My vote for you is stevens unless it comes down the the convenience of the short drive to snoqualmie.

I must try one of these

Oh and for alpy vs stevens pow days, before people talked about our Stevens pow online, it was freshies 20 yards from a lift line all day(a few years back). Nowadays our parking lots are full by 9:20 (not kidding, they turn people around) and those all day freshies at Stevens are gone whenever the report says 8+ inches. However, Alpy has lots of people too, so they are fairly even there.

Alpy has more steeps in its backcountry, Stevens has more trees. Alpy has more hittable cliffs with good landings, Stevens has a higher elevation(which with fat skis isn't the same difference as it was with 85 waisted skis). Also at Alpy IMO you do much less work for your turns(backcountry) where with Stevens we have hikes, often which are F'ing long. Seriously, out to Wenatchee bowl is way to god damn long when you guys have a little traverse to do at Alpy(and way to many people there now! it's not worth it unless you are there in the morning). Stevens jump line is better than qualmies, but qualmies pipe is much better(if they actually put it up when they have the chance, hah) and jibs are better. Stevens has more in bounds terrain if you care about that(lots of mogul fields).

If you want pow, go to stevens, It only rains at snoqualmie. we ski on mud most the year. everyone should stay away. btw whoever is above me wow on the avatar

Your talking about 35-40 minutes to get to snocompton or what like l:45 to get to steven though. If you're planning on riding a lot after school or work or whatever I might go with summit. Get up there at 4:20 ride till ten all winter long that's the shit

No one has really mentioned the elevation difference either. The snow is better at stevens, and sometimes when it's snowing at stevens it's raaining in snocompton

its still super nice that snoqualmie is such a short drive for a decent park and good backcountry

I was talking about Wenatchee Bowl and the actuall Tye hike, not cowboy and the halfway Tye. Yes we do have those short hikes which I hate doing with people because most people are so damn slow, but Alpy has a traverse instead of a hike. Oh and that day was kinda funny with everybody competing to hike haha. Lots of people were asking me where to go from the Tye spot.

Pussy!

haha joking..but I don't mind hikes, I just don't like that they take away from my ski time. Traverses are easier.

yes but hikes mean less people will wanna do the hike which means less people to ski said area. hikes are better then traverses in everyway. earn your turns son!

ya some parents at alpintal bring their 6 year old kids that hardly know how to ski into the backcountry and they hold up the line

Yeah but its good to teach them when they are young how to ski safely and use an avalanche becon, and how to navigate because when they are 14 and go off by themselves with friends they'll know what there doing and not get lost, killed or hurt. I had some not so smart friends who didn't know what they were doing get stuck in the Whistler BC overnight and were partially hypothermic when they made it back to the village... Its always good to get gain experience from people who know what they are doing

^ i was there when these dumbass parents brought there whole family back there including their 6 year old daughter(they held up a pretty big line on the traverse until someone asked them to let everyone pass them), it was pretty lame and the parents had no clue what they were doing themselves.

i remember that, the guy had one of those spiky things over his helmet. im fine with normal kids in bc. but not gapers

Neither would I, however its good for them to learn to wear it, and good that you can find them if they go into a tree well or slide of some sort. That usually why you have more than one adult around when skiing in the BC one to ski ahead of the kids and at least one to ski behind them
