Stevens park 09/10

So I know that there was a thread on it a bit back, but what is the plan for the park at Stevens this coming season(if we get enough snow to do what we want)? I'd love to see the pro line actually be big....that little waterfall was shit. As big distance as we can make them, with mediumish stack height kickers would be great, along with that big Such Is Life leftover jump that was up in 08. I also think that the top 5 jumps on the bigger line should be made into 3 jumps that are bigger with better landings...and that side run should have bigger jibs or rails or something instead of the tiny jibs that weren't used. Just some ideas...anybody know the plan?

Didnt you hear? Because of all the shitty attitudes Top Phlight Terrain Park will be closing for the 2009-2010 season. It is to be re-opened when skiers earn back the privileged of a park with good deeds to be recognized with gold stars~

yeah the whole left lane of the park was pretty week i think they should put more rails features instead of the tiny jibs, i mean they can be fun for sure but too many of them gets annoying

Just throwing this in there, people need to learn on small stuff too... So a mix is actually good! Progression, although watching people die is pretty funny stuff

haha, I do get that starting small is good, I was just thinking a bigger pro line would be fun..

My bad if it sounded like I was complaining, I was just trying to throw out a few ideas. I'll be there with whatever we have and was wondering what to expect this year..

Hello all

This 09-10 season in the Terrain Park we will increase are progression features along with are proline features. New jibs including new boxes rails large and small will be added to the lineup of our old refurbished features. A full scale progression park will be added to the mix (excluded from the main park but easy access to both) will including hike able features, smaller boxes and rails to lighten the load on the over populated Brennans Trail.

As for making the large 'ShowTime' jump at the bottom of the park, that feature only becomes realistic in a larger than life snow year. We had the snow, time and resources in the 07-08 season to accomplish the task. It was a awesome jump that many people enjoy. again it takes large amounts of snow to make a jump that big again. So pray for snow.

The upper right jump line is always a interesting design task because it also takes the right amount of snow for those features. Those particular sized jumps work there because of the grade of slope in that area. I might look into that line and maybe do something different there.

As for down in Proline (Waterfall, Jrs and Junks jumps) those sizes are also determined by snow. Waterfall can’t get much bigger than that size in a low snow year. Without a drop in people won’t make the landing if it was much bigger. It’s all about progression in a jump line like that theoretically Waterfall should be the smallest of the three with Junks being the largest as it was last season.

I am always open to ideas for features but they have to be maintainable on a nightly basis and user friendly to all. If you have suggestions post them here or send me and email at bstanford@stevenspass.com

Thanks and hope to see you all in the upcoming season.

Ps Ekunz sorry for snapping at you I was having a ruff day.

how about a hanging osama effigy? noose and everything, free seasons pass if you jib his head off.
And after the re:session features, I would say that Stevens has taken on a bit of an obligation to build high quality features. Obviously they don't need to be on the same size or as high consequence, but they should stack up against the higher end terrain parks that also do terrain park shoots. (re: Mammoth, Keystone, Copper, etc)
Its probably to late to instal snow guns, but that would probably be a good idea.

guns are in the MDP and thats what we shoot for with our features, better maintained and more creative. I have some interesting things planned for this year........the thing with the film shoot stuff is that it was built and then torn down. stuff in the park needs to last a while and be maintainable. any ideas of what you would like to see? im all ears....

do that thing cone tap thing on the 3rd jump on the right line you had at the end last year, except do make it some akward to hit, also more rails and group shit together, i dont want to have to run a maration to get from one thing to another thing, dont build that stupid mini pipe, bigger pro line, and are there any new c rails?

Glad to here what's up, thanks.

So out of curiousity, why don't you guys pile up and pack down dirt in the off season where the jumps are so that you don't need as much snow to make them?(and I mean in large mounds, so we make the jump with snow and don't need too much to start up a large(ish) jump). Does that question make sense or am I just sounding stupid?

Probably because they would need different machinery to do that. Tons of bushes and shit are where the jumps are in late summer anyways~

i say we have more creative jibs, or just not very used setups. Like the cannon box or a wood a-frame, chop a few trees down and make a line out of natty shit, even some flat drop lines some stair gaps would be dope. in other words more street features, or smaller table tops with a jersey barrier in the middle to spin/tap/handdrag over.

on the jumps park crew should just keep doing what they do, keep them in good condition and make them a little bigger. i think we should have at least two or three dug in jumps like waterfountain and the jump at the end of the right line.

also, keep a street style box like the one we had mid dump last season on the end of left.

but the park has been pretty good as of late.

peace

two seasons ago, the rail line (skier's left of the half pipe) was carried down to about to where those little roller bumps are with a few shorter, straight rails and the s-rail; i thought that was nice. i only rode there a few times last season and never saw things set up like that... so maybe they were at some point... i don't know... regardless... i liked that.

I liked that too. The thing that I would have changed that year on the pro ling would have been making the waterfall a kicker, but it was all sick.
