Nobody wants to watch me sit in front of a monitor and go "Uhhhhhh sick" when SteepSteep can pull up and go "HOLY JUMPIN JESUS THAT TWIDDLED MY PUBE HAIR AND MADE ME BUST RAINBOWS" (Sry I don't watch steepsteep) If you know his story, and you've watched his video about the Gilson ski, you're honestly a goof if you don't think he deserves that ski. Steep is a cool ass dude and as much as I don't vibe with reaction vids or video gameplay, I still watch the occasional video and I think hes sick as fuck.
The Gilson hate is BS too, I would never ride a Gilson ski and I don't watch anyone they sponsor but I still love them, they do a lot for the community. S/O Gilson man, they get my pass for sure. Nobody hates of the traveling circus and they aren't exactly the epitome of swag either. And besides, whats worse for skiing: the fake tryhard gangster shit, or the real personalities regardless if they are the traditional version of cool or not.

From what I have seen Gilson pretty much will sponsor any event they are asked to sponsor and also hold their own events. Trying to get ski companies to sponsor events and give out decent prizes is tough, at least it was 5+ years ago. Any event we would ever hold would have a good snowboard sponsor, but getting ski companies was next to impossible. I hated a good amount on Gilson at the beginning because A: I was a stupid college kid trying to act cool. B: Their ads were pretty damn lame, and the whole soft edge thing seemed super gimmicky. Since then they have floated skis to a bunch of no name skiers, held numerous events, donated a ton of skis to school programs, and changed their ski design so you actually could make turns. Sure they might not be sponsoring movies (are they?) or sponsoring any real big names, but I would be willing to bet they put a larger percent of their earnings back into the community than most ski brands and they are filling a void that many other companies have been ignoring.
