Steamboat, Co - Vacation tips, ideas, and maps

So I just found out my family and I are vacationing out to Steamboat around Feb. 13th and I'm so excited!

Still I have a couple of questions relating to where the good skiing is, what I should be expecting, and how to get around.

I don't know what hotel we're staying so there's not really any info on that.

I guess I'll start now.

1) What is the most common difficulty level for the trails?

2) What's the mix between park, groomers, and backcountry/tree skiing?

3) What lifts are the best/most efficient for getting around?

4) Any specific places I should visit on the mountain for fun?

I'll probably have a bit more in the future so this might get bumbed again.

A trail map will tell you nearly all of that....don't go out of bounds unless you're being guided there as its easy to get cliffed out or lost.

I'm t really looking for the trail map info more like insider/local stuff that wouldn't be common info.

I could spend the rest of my life skiing Shadows/Closets/Sideburn trees and be perfectly content. After growing up there I can still find new lines and untracked pow on any day. Just don't let the fall line funnel you into where all the gapes end up.

u should hit me and my buddies up when u go. I live in steamboat. Blues are the most common

trees and top sides of the mountain are the best for dickin around on

lots of tree skiing, etc

most common lifts are thunderhead express, stormpeak, and sundown express.

There is no such lift as pioneer. I believe you are looking for Pony.

But anyway,

Trailmaps, I love all the bowls and chutes, don't go out of bounds unless you are with someone who knows the areas well (the canyon is really fun though). There are free buses that go all over town. Lots of good restaurants, make sure you go to Slopeside. The hotsprings are also fun, the downtown one is good, go to the strawberry park hotsprings if you have time.

My spring break is the week of the 13th so I'll be there that whole week with my dad.

Have fun!

the canyon and third pitch is where its at if your looking for drops but dont go just wondering go with someone who knows there shit. some of the best tree skiing in the world if you know where to go but it all gets tracked out super fast

Ok so I'm leaving on Saturday the 11th pretty early in the morning. I'm expecting to get there the 12th, but I don't think we're skiing that day.

So I guess I'll be hitting the slopes the 13th. I kind of have a rough idea of who I'm going to chill with and whats going down, but I'm just gonna wing it.

How are the conditions out there right now?

conditions arent too bad... could definitely be better, but not too bad for this year i spose. park is real fun right now IMO. should hit me up if ur lookin for someone to shred with.

Have a good time man, and hopefully we get some snow. Steamboat kids are really chill for the most part, so I'm sure you'll be able to find some shred buddies
