Step 1a: Buy a sled.
Step 1b: Go with a friend that owns a sled and ride rodeo.
Step 2: Access the backcountry.
Step 3: Ski.
Step 4: Rip around some meadows. Try not to get the sled stuck.
Step 5: Ride back to vehicle, load up sled, go drink beers.
But in all seriousness, there really isn't much backcountry around Steamboat that's close enough to reasonably access without a sled. I'm sorry that I can't offer any real resources, but your friend at CMC might have some folks that know better.
