Staying warm without a jacket

I don't really have a jacket and usually wear two hoodies on top of eachother I was wondering if anyone knows anything like what to wear under hoodies or under something besides a jscket to keep warm when its under 20 degrees, because it has been quite cold lately and I don't want to purchase a jacket.

like 3 underarmor/thermal layers, shirts in-between each, your two sweatshirts, then a tall tee or something on top of those to top it off.

get a jacket though...

^^ Get tight base layers, they're really warm. Also get a quarter zip that is kind of fitted so it will go under your hoodies.

This is a matter of wanting to look "cool" not being unable to afford to purchase a jacket. Maybe you live under a rock but you can buy a jacket from thrift stores like salvation army for literally 5 bucks. Hell there's about a million coat "Drives" where organizations/church's give them away for free to people who are unable to afford to purchase one.

Skiing is cold, get a jacket.

If you wear layers made of the right material you will be surprised at how few will keep you warm. I used to be a tall-t cotton reppin guy and then I started wearing under armor/fleece/wool.

Never will go back... I used to freeze my ass off.

Yeah ive been freezing lately, thanks for the tips

By the amount you are going to spend on base layers and everything, your going to be at about the price of a decent jacket, might aswell just get one

I got sick of wearing a frozen hoodie so I saved up, completely splurged, and bought a Patagonia jacket. Best purchase ever.

Under 20? dude, you can handle it. i Wore a t-shirt with a swaetshirt over it with a thin hoodie over that, it was -5 out, all i had on my bottom was jeans with snowpants over them

Why jeans? You're asking for trouble...

just buy a cheap shell at least to stop the wind, and you can still wear all of your other hoodies under it

I usually ride in a hoody with a patagonia piton hybrid underneath. As long as its not too windy I've been good in this down to about 20 F. Its a thin fleece jacket that is silly warm and has windblocker on the chest and back. It makes a huge difference in warmth and is a really thin layer so it doesn't bulk things up. Its a great piece of gear, I couldn't recommend it enough.

woah I bet your dick is monstrous

Its been -10 in Michigan lately and I stay warm with a layer of underarmer a tall t and a sweatshirt.

When it comes to clothing just wear thick crew neck base layers, and when I get really cold I always resort to hiking features because that always makes me hot.

Managed to get through the whole blizzard part of the 2014 Australia season (late june to beginning of august) without jacket on powder runs.. the trick is to use thermals with two hoodies on the not too harsh days, and when its night skiing or super cold, borrow a mates jacket or something :) Chances are someones got a spare or are happy to lend.

Stop wearing cotton. ever heard the saying "cotton kills"? thats because cotton is terrible at stopping wind and absorbs water. polyester doesn't absorb water nearly as bad and stops wind better. but like everyone else said, thermals thermals thermals, these will save your life and you can find them pretty cheap.

Layering garbage bags on top of or between hoodies works for upping windproofing. When I lived in the PNW I skied with hoodie+taped trashbags more often then with my shell.

I used to wear an under armor type base layer, then a waffle shirt, then two hoodies, then a gigantic insulated flannel and puffy vest (got the last two at goodwill) and I never wanted to spend more on a jacket. Didn't feel the need to either, was pretty solid most days.

But I recently saved up and bought a jacket and let me tell you, best decision I could've made. I would recommend saving and going for it.

A under armour shirt, a couple longsleves then a sweater then hoodie over top. keeps me warm on cold ass days. also i have a saga riding pullover which is heavier than a regular hoodie.

you gotta be joking dude, a jacket is more than necessary if you're going to be skiing in cold weather.

definitely reconsider buying a jacket. lol

duct tape hand warmers to your body. Someday the cost of handwarmers will add up to wayyy more than an actual jacket, but fuck logic.

Why not just go buy a cheap jacket, you can literally find cheap shit anywhere online man, ebay, craigs, hell NS is a good place to look too. Have fun with hypothermia man, it may not be thug, but i prefer keeping the feeling in my core as opposed to eventually loosing a testy to the cold.

If you won't take this advice, my second best advice is cotton kills, coming back to my firs point, get a jacket, sweatshirts are made of cotton. When that shit gets wet, it will stay wet making you cold... and wet. So go polypropylene, some athletic sweatshirts are made of some percentage of polypropylene, go hit your local thrift store and you will for sure find tons of old base layers for a couple of bucks that will still be in good usable quality and will be plenty warm. Cheers man

awww, the good ol' poncho days... i remember spending 6 miserable hours in December last season skiing in rain / sleet with a poncho, that poncho and I became good friends.
