Staying awake...

So I always fall asleep in class, no matter how much sleep I had the night before. Even driving distances longer than 20 minutes I start nodding off, while fucking driving.

I'm not narcoleptic but I'm pretty damn close I figure. I drink a coffee every class in hopes it would keep me awake but that doesn't do anything. Bussing to college I'm always asleep, sometimes miss my stop. It's brutal, I've resorted to pinching myself all class long haha.

So NS how do you stay awake in class, any tips or do you just stay awake anyway? Maybe I'm just a big bitch who can't handle life out of my bed?

Anyway, fuck school already.

Sounds like you have a case of the 2:30's Get yourself a 5 hour energy and you will stay awake and refreshed for hours..........

I'd have to buy one everyday, price racks up. I'll try puzzles but if it's anything like writing notes and drawing it won't help haha.

I have the same problem, some classes are just so boring I can't stay awake. I try to doodle or play phone games if I can in that class. What also kind of helps me is focusing on drinking my entire water bottle because I don't drink enough water during the day and that helps keep me awake and hydrated.

okay, this might sound a little far out.I've had the same problem as you, and if the reason isn't bad air in class, then meditation could do the trick.

I allways feel clear and energic after a meditation session, it helps to keep your mind sharp, true story.

In this article they say you should meditate as many minutes that your age, so if you're 20 yrs, you should do 20 minutes sessions.

doesn't harm to give it a try:)

Thanks for the solid responses, I figured drinking a water bottle would help, I've brought them a couple times. I'll check out that long too when I'm done.

Also I didn't fall asleep in this class haha! First time in a long time.

It's also a good idea to drink a glass of water within 5 minutes of you waking up. It does wonders! And if you have to go to the bathroom during class, that's something to focus on too instead of trying to stay awake during class if anything.

its an extremely temporary solution but just do it until you find something that works long term. When ever you feel your self start to dose off, just hold your breath. It increases your heart rate which makes you feel like you're more awake. But eventually you will start to dose off again.

The chair used for the Ludovico technique is the answer.

a few hits of good acid should do the trick. just hope you don't have any crazy carpets trying to eat you!

drawing during class always helped me pass the time, too. you don't necessarily hear the lecture, but you usually pick up on the key points.

Had similar stuff in class last year, but what really helped me was drinking lots of water and taking a little walk and some stretching if the teacher allows a break during longer classes

I usually aim for 8 but even when I get a solid 9-10 I'm still sleepy and it's not me oversleeping either.

Some solid advice in here though, I'll go with water bottles, surf NS, and a couple hits of acid.

Plus you get to try to give a hot Deovtcha the old in out in out... if you're fluent in clockwork orange language.

Or you have mono.
