we had a lot of kids in our club who competed and skied every weekend, but we also had a lot of kids who were relatively new to it...my outlook was always the more the merrier, i really just loved spreading my love of skiing to new people as much as possible. yeah, when we went i took people out west there were a lot of guys who had never skied anything but east coast, and there were a few people who had only been skiing like a year. as people got the hang of the different conditions there was a lot of talk about "ooooh well i want to ski with yall but i dont think i can keep up" and my reply was always who cares? the whole point is to have fun. and besides, it doesnt matter how good you are as long as youre stoked, and if we didnt have as many stoked people every year we wouldnt have been able to take such fun trips.
yeah, some of those kids will never know the joys of skiing sweet tree lines and dropping cliffs on pow days, but it seriously doesnt matter. when it comes to ski clubs youve just gotta get along with the gapers and have as much fun as possible, cause not everybody can be as sweet as we are.
