So I'm in Hawaii for the summer and 4 of the people I'm with now have a staph infection. I'm trying to do everything I can to avoid getting it myself, but it still freaks me out how quickly they got it and now have flu like symptoms. I'm not sure what's keeping them from going to a doctor....

I think people have been getting it from showering in the outdoor shower that uses unfiltered rainwater

QUESTION: how do they know exactly that its a staph infection without cultures being done?

I got a staph infection a few years back. No signs of it on my family.

Have them keep theirs in a bandage, and you should avoid them as much as possible, and if you get a cut/open wound, sorry.

I just got over staph, its really not a big deal. Stay away from them, don't share glasses, don't kiss each other etc. Wash your hands very frequently. And if you get it, just go get some penicillin and you'll be fine....
