Spray Painting Marker Griffons?

Anyone have any experience with customizing griffons? How should I go about dissecting the binding? I’d most likely want to spray paint them.
 
Yeah, the last thing I'd want to be doing is messing with the thing that is likely going to save my knees. But I'm also old.

I mean cover the afd and clear plastic over the dins and you're chilling. Dudes paint their bindings all the time
