I recently sprained my knee, probably grade 2 on the 3 point scale. Right in the middle of the season. Really want to get back out on snow, hit some jumps.

Anybody else had sprained knees? how long was the recovery before you could comfortably hit jumps again? tell me all about it

go!

All depends on what you sprain. If it's your MCL or LCL then it is easier to brace it. If it's ACL or PCL then you might want to take some time off. Chances are, if you try to be active on a sprained ACL it will likely tear all the way through. There really isn't a good brace to prevent your ACL from being damaged. I'm assuming it's your MCL, so just ice it and wear a brace that will support your MCL, or take time off if needed. If you are going to ski on it, get a good rigid brace that will keep your knee from abducting or adducting. Not one of those flimsy ones.

sorry man, i havent had an MRI so i dont have specifics for you. just looking to hear some recovery stories of other "sprained knees" sorry for making an illegitimate thread

Today I hit a jump switch on a small jump and just caught an edge on the sticky snow. Fell akwardly and hurt my ankle. I may have retriggered an injury I had last year where my tendon ripped off the bone, took 6 months to recover. Im praying that it's just a bad sprain.I can't go through what I went through last year again.

You strain muscles and sprain ligaments, and the time off all depends on the degree of sprain/strain

I had a grade 1 mcl sprain. Took 2 weeks off. Feels pretty good now but another few days off probably would have been better.

I had a sprained MCL last season and I took 2 weeks off, then I could ski with a tube brace thing on it. I couldn't do anything that would risk me landing sideways for the rest of the season though and the injury happend this time last year.
