Splitting Armada base from topsheet - Problem?

Just recently after skiing for a week on my new El reys I noticed that the base and edge had kind of split apart from the upper part of the ski. It is directly under the mounting screws and my theory is that the guy who mounted my ski's had not drilled the hole deep enough for the screws and when he mounted the bindings the screw pushed the base away splitting the to parts. Just wondering what people thought caused this, if it will effect my skiing and how I can fix it?

Below are pictures explaining the Splitting.

The crack is about the width of a fingernail and extends about 4 inches.

This shows what i think happened, the screws may have pushed the bace away from the top of the ski creating the split.

Karma for help.

I've had 2 pairs of armadas that the base separated from the topsheet in the nose. never had any issues underfoot tho.

looks like im not going to be buying a pair of armadas....

Just because if a warrenty claim issue on one of armadas price point skis? If you work in the industry long enough you will see nearly ever ski break at least once so if you keep up this attitude you won't have many skis left to ride.

well obviously its not just the "price point" ski. the guy with second reply on the thread said he had 2 pairs of armadas do the same thing. i lie the armada pow skis, i just dont have confidence in some of their park line.

He also said that the tips delammed, not underfoot. I've tip-delammed skis in the shop without taking them out of the plastic.

Volkl Explosivs were notorious for tip/tail delams, such that people would rivet them before they had any issues. It still has a cult following.

Can't claim this on warranty, I have been hitting rails and Armada will just claim that it was the mounters fault. It's not super significant and i been skiing on these for the last couple of days, I'm just worried that it will progress and is there anything i can do about it?

Still worth trying to Warentie them. It a big misconception here that you you can't warrenty ski which you have used on rails. that is not the case. If the damage occurred regardless of the rail damage it will be covered. However if there is a chance that the damage was caused by the user then no they won't be covered. Take them back to the shop which mounted ten and hav them take a look. If they can not be warrantied get them fixed before you ski them again. so long as the core has not got too wet already you could get them glued back together no problem. But if you leave them an keep skiing they will for sure at some point snap.

Taken straight from the armada website:

"Excluded from coverage under this warranty are the following:

3. Impact damage caused by rocks, stumps, dumpsters, parking lots, rails or any other contact with a surface different than snow"

Not sure if mine is an impact damage from rails or just a factory failure.

I had the same problems recently on my völkls but then again this was their second season and spent most of this season hitting rails so i put it down to that, filled the gap with 2 part epoxy clamped them up overnight and that fixed them.

I'm in Australia so it is kind of hard to make the international call. I've taken it to the local ski shop on my mountain and they seem happy to fix it. I'm really enjoying the ski and thank you for the awesome customer service!

If its a major manufacturing defect they will fix the issue regardless. I had a pair of Heads that I had been hitting rails all season with have an edge pull out, they sent me a new pair no questions asked. If it was the shop who mounted it wrong, go talk to the MANAGEMENT of the shop, not the dude who mounted them. Of course that guy wont comp to it.

You just had the company reach out to you to get the issue fixed on a public forum. If you are too cheap not to make the international call (especially when things like Skype make this so cheap these days), thats on you. You can either spend the couple bucks on a phone call, and possibly get a brand new pair of skis for free, or not spend a couple dollars and buy a new pair of skis yourself for many hundreds of dollars. Your call. Seems obvious to me.

^guys there is very little point him calling the states if he is not based there. Warranties like this will be dealt with by the national dealer not the head office. He needs to contact his local office for armada. If he can't find this then go to a armada authorized dealer and they can contact armada for him.

This is what I meant before, even though what I said sounded like I didn't want to pay for the call.

Thank you

Hi, I've emailed the address that you sent me thoroughly explaining the situation. I haven't received a reply yet and I'm hoping on getting one soon.

Thanks for giving me some confidence in maybe getting these replaced!
