spilled beer all over my macbook last night and it just shut off. I put a fan over it and dried it out so it turns on and works fine now but the audio doesnt work. any mac users out there know anything about this and can help me out before i have to go to an apple store or some shit.

uhhh all over? i'd say open it all up and let it all dry up for a day or two and hope for the best for right now

yea all over the keyboard. and warranty doesnt cover if you spill stuff on it. I was thinking of taking it aprt and cleaning it then if it still doesnt work ill give it to the tech guys at apple and see waht they can do.

dry it out then send it in and said you dont know what happened, i know someone whose kid decided to pee on his laptop and he tried it out and sent it in and got a brand new one but it was an ibm try it. your going to have to send it somewhere so might as well try and if they dont take it just have them fix it

yeah try using the headphone jackalso just send it in and say you don't know what happened, it's worth a shot, just say all of a sudden your audio doesn't work and you're not sure why. if apple is really bitchy they'll somehow find out you spilled on it but most likely they'll just help you out. does the comp smell like beer?

My friend left him macbook pro out on the deck after a lil BBQ. Then it rained. A lot.

Thing wouldn't even turn on

Brought it to the apple store and the replaced everything ($900 worth of parts)

It's worth a try.

well i hear if you get an ipod/cellphone wet to put it in a bag of rice to dry it out... but this would have to be a pretty damn big bag.

im not sure if that would help seeing as it still turns on and works and stuff... but go for it.

and when you're done, you can cook it for some beer flavored rice.

i stepped on my ipod the other say, no physical damage, but it wouldnt turn on. I went and plugged it into the computer and it wouldnt turn on or anything so i reset it. it said i needed to restore it, so i did, and when it loaded back up, it said i needed to restore it. it was just in a cycle and wouldnt get out

so i brought it in today, guy asked whats wrong, not how it happened or anything, i just said its stuck in retore mode. he couldnt do anything about, so he basically said "are you still under warranty?" i said yes (which i am) and he gave me a new one. they pick out of a drawr, sometimes you get a refurbished, sometimes you get a new one, he got me a brand new ipod. it was sick

so basically, mac is suppppper chill. there most likely won't be any evidence of the spill so i wouldnt worry, just bring it into a mac store

hahaha shitt, thats pretty awesome. I spilled a conglomerate of milk and icecream on my keyboard and washed it out in my sink once. This was like 3 years ago before i was smart enough to dry it. i had it back plugged into my computer within a half hour of washing it :\

I guess when i logged into my account it started in safe mode i think it was, and thats when the audio didnt work, so i just restarted it and everything works fine, im pumped cause my macbook just crashed because i downloaded to much torrents so i didnt feel like adding all the songs i had onto my itunes and fixing up the albums and all that shit.

when such an event happens to a cell or laptop, DO NOT PUSH ANY BUTTONS take the battery out and put them both in uncooked white rice. the rice will act like a sponge and help dry it quicker. leave it for at least 24 hours for a cell and probably 48 for a laptop to make sure nothing shorts when you turn it back on.

this is word for word what i did for my macbook and it worked. However, if you pretty much dewarentied it. My advice if the rice fails, and you gotta get it warenteed, rinse the beer out with water and say a window broke and thats how the water got on it. This will sound a lot better than "duuuuuhhh i spilled"
