Speed Check

Hey guys ive used the searchbar and i could really find anything. How do you judge your speed for bigger jumps ive heard watch a guy your size and see how fast he goes or stop up the jump ect im going to a park that has bigger jumps than im used to and i could really use some tips to make sure im going fast enough i have a bad tendency to go to slow. Thanks alot i appreciate all the advice!

watch other people, look at EXACTLY how many turns they do instead of just going straight. each turn slows you down a tiny bit, so if someone does 3 turns than hits the jump, then that jump, from where everyone starts, has 3 speedchecks to get perfect speed.

so if theres 3 speedchecks, you carve 3 times, while still sort of straightlining to the jump

i usually ask people at the top of the jump if any of them has hit the jump and how much speed you need, generally someone tells you how much and they are fine with you following them in.

half the time you can see where people start from, find a ski "print" and just follow it, and youll be fine. seems to work for me when i ride solo

I like landing in the flat...
So usually I do a Texas tuck into the jump and pop super hard so I clear the landing. All the cool kids are landing in the flat this year.

what i like to do is find a guy whos hitting the jumps and ask him if you can ski just behind im and stop at the lip, that pretty much gives me an idea of how much speed i need, airtime etc. when i can see him infront of me..
