Special Ed teacher harasses student? the fugg?

I saw this earlier today super fucked up. On a lighter note the headline to the link you posted is " Teacher unloads on special needs student" which in and of itself i found kind of hilarious. The initial visual I had of a teacher ejaculating onto a student. Anyway yeah this is horrible.
 
When I read the thread title I thought the teacher was an actual special ed teacher....as in a teacher for disabled/handicapped students. If that were the case, I'd think this was extremely fucked up. However, it appears that he's actually more of an "alternative school" teacher, i.e. a teacher for kids that fuck off in school and cause trouble.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not condoning the way that he handled the situation. There are certainly a lot better ways that he could have handled it, but it sounds like that kid is a jerk off that doesn't really care about his education and constantly causes trouble in the classroom. Sometimes you have to take a harder line with kids like that. I'm not saying what he did was right, but I can understand how a problem child could eventually get under your skin.

I don't think the teacher should be fired. However, some counselling/schooling/etc to teach him how to better handle children like that is certainly warranted.

I don't even really think this is news worthy. I've seen much worse at some of the rougher schools in the Chicagoland area, but you don't ever hear about those.

i dont think think you should base the whole schools system off this one guy, because compared to most places our school system is not bad

I think it is not right to condemn the teacher based on this short clip. Sure what he said is not right, but this kid is not retarded, he is a trouble maker, probably with a learning disability. He could be a wanna be gangster who threatens the teacher every day.

I know some guys who teach classes similar to this and I guarantee this kid is a little fucker.

maybe that kid acts like a piece of shit in class and when the teacher gets mad at him he plays the victim card.

just saying that you can't make up your mind on this teacher before seeing the big picture. that's a part of reading/watching the news. be objective in your conclusions.
 
haha, yeah i noticed that too. i'd guess he doesn't talk like this to most people and is catering his style of speech to his audience....some punk ass little thug.
 
Lead by example.

A "teacher" talking like an uneducated tool simply reinforces to the students that it is acceptable to behave and speak in such a manner.

My wife teaches elementary special education in a co-teaching classroom model in a school district with no shortage of difficult situations. There is a huge difference between being firm and being a disrespectful asshole.
 
I have to disagree with you. Metro School Districts around the country have adopted the philosophy that special needs kids are a hassle and an unnecessary expense. The bullying extends to parents and the goal is to pressure parents to remove their special needs kids from public school.

This is an over the top example and most of the time it is more subtle but it happens everywhere. Kids with learning disabilities require more resources for the schools and they negatively impact a teacher's performance review, because their performance is evaluated based on standardized test scores. Much of the time, a kid with a learning disability won't score high on the standardized tests so teachers do not want these kids in their classes and the segregated special ed classes are intentionally made to be so bad that no parent in their right mind would let their child be placed in one.
 
yes, leading by example is certainly the ideal way to handle things. but what do you do when you encounter kids that just don't give a fuck?

once again, i'm not condoning this teacher's actions, but I can understand how some of these little shits could eventually push someone over the edge. teachers that deal with this stuff day in and day out have my utmost respect. I couldn't do it. god bless your wife. teachers are under appreciated in our society.
 
Yes it is. I lived in Usa for 2 years and went to 3 different schools. Compared to Europes school system, your system sucks.
 
im just saying that the fact that we have school supplies and can afford to put every kid in a classroom until he is 18 is pretty impressive. i think that should be expected of course, especially from a country as developed as the US, and i dont think it goes without flaws, but i dont take what we have for granted.
