We do the best we can in controlling them...best you can do is help us clean it up by linking us to the blogs where the spam has happened.... preferably in the To Be Deleted sticky. Thanks.
Well you never know, those dirty bastards could just put random names down. So for that idea someone would have to check the answers and see if they're real or not.
I'm thinking multiple choice, kind of like a mini-quiz, and you need to get above an 80% (for example). Questions would be pretty easy, and would need to be easy enough for n00bs to know.
if they are going through the process of signing up for NS, nothings stopping them from a simple google search. If they want in, they will get in. Let them get in and IP ban them.
think how many 12 year olds wont know the answer. Some skiers are just starting and learn from this site. and who cares if its more work for the mods, its their duty as a mod.
we should use questions that would be harder to find on google, but still are relatively easy. For instance, what mountain has the better park? Breckenridge, Alta, Kirkwood, or Loveland
that might be a little hard, but questions along that line should be good
just showing you that it would be almost impossible. If a spammer wants to make an account, he'll find a way to make it. Once hes IP banned, he'll probably move on to the next forum.
As Ashley said, just notify an admin or a moderator WITH a link to the spammed thread/picture/video/blog/whatever and we will clean it up and deal with the spam.
There are so many areas where comments, and thus spam, can be posted that we really need everyones help in keeping things clean!
They might like the idea of park skiing... and want to learn more to see if they want to give it a try! Think of someone who just watched the X-games and had always been thinking of starting skiing.... not a regular occurance but certainly possible.
As for the spam, please just PM a mod with a link to where you see it and we can nuke/ban really quickly.
We will implement better anti-spam measures when we get time, but right now we're trying to finish a few projects that are far, far too late.
or like in here with the comments (the actual post was cool though)https://www.newschoolers.com/ns/content/readblog/member_id/97847/eid/66239/
something must be done
