Well, I have some observations to make, mostly pointed out to me by an outsider to the board, but a vet of successful forums (LexHavoc)

Threads rarely stay on topic anymore, after one or two posts they usually degenerate into back and forth sessions of

'your not a cool jibber! rock!! i have skis!!'

this is whats known as spam... we are all guilty of it, me, tim, harvey, everyone...

Could we PLEASE try to keep threads on topic, and stop posting useless threads like MC's Anal Sex thread, or the one pat made about my article, and others like that...

I would love to see NS become a more orderly, and therefore, more successful site... this also means that Mod's should be more strict, and yes, seemingly unfair...

I think that the Ski Gabber forum stays on topic and is not full of crappy posts at all. The non ski gabber forum is there for people to have less serious conversations and I think that everyone knows this and thus keeps ski gabber quite on topic.

Also, what you're describing is not spam at all. It's not even in the vacinity of spam. If you don't believe me, here's proof:

I agree that mods need to continue heavily moderating obscene, un-needed, and immature threads, but I do'nt think we need to go crazy or anything.

Spam on a forum are short, off topic messages, or one or two word messages like

That's not spam... spam is unsolicited messages advertising. Or in the context of a message board, it's flooding... 'cool' is not flooding..

This is not my site, and I'm not a forum veteran, but I think the reason for this sites success is because it's so laid back. We can all come on here and joke around as much as we want.

Yeah I definately agree with that. The non-ski gabber is where people turn to read something funny, it hardly deals with very serious topics; however, when the serious topics come up people are usually serious about them (i.e. that whole world trade center convo a while ago). Furthermore, what kind of response would you expect from a thread entitled 'anal sex', especially with a website filled (mostly) with horny ski dudes.
