Sound Design

Looking for feed back, I just got audition and have been messing around with it for a couple of nights now. I feel like sound design is the thing that sets apart an amazing video from a really good one. That being said this was the first time I was messing around with it and am interested in what people think

RIP Damian

I would add some more layers if i were you but thats just my taste. depends on whether you want it to obviously feel designed or feel real. There is a fair amount of action on screen that is not accompanied by a sound which makes it feel designed or fabricated. awesome start though. sound design is so much fun. also fantastic images

Great point! I wasn't really sure how to and make it sound some what real to be honest. I've been watching some youtube clips and gathering more sound online. I'm gonna play around with it some more and work on it. Thanks for the input man.

What did you actually do in Audition? I really like designing sound, but I don't know how to take it to the next level. I will download or record sounds I want to use and just mix them by volume in a few audio tracks in a Premiere project. Did you add any effects or change the EQ in Audition? Right now, it just seems like a hassle to edit this stuff in Audition since I don't know what I am doing there. Thanks.

I just added a bunch of clips, layered them, messed with high pass, low pass and fading a bit. That's about all. I am still in the very very beginner stages of learning proper sound design. As I've been playing with it more and doing my research I've found that the more layers you have, like was mentioned earlier, the better (More real) it will sound. With the video I made I started with no sound then designed it all in audition. I made the mistake of leaving to much dead video. Basically there were things happening that had no sound to back them up. The plus side to audition is you can also make sound dynamic, which means you can add it in 3d space for 5.1 or 7.1 surround. You can use it as well just to stream line the editing process, you can edit you footage and off camera sounds in premiere and then add sound from say an h4n or even the internet in audition. Plus the effects and equalizing.
