nothing. To many people, throwing around a derogitory term as a joke renders it as harmless, and is their way of showing that the whole concept is so astinine that they're already able to make jokes about it.

millions of people resort to humor to mask the uglyness, myself included.

Damn that sucks dude. Whenever I go out I say to myself, "why is everyone here so white??" There are answers, of the socioeconomic kind (skiing costs cold cash, and y'know, in north america, what class/colour of people who hold that, son)...but yah this has created a weird inbreed feeling... and I think a closed community somewhat reflected on NS, sometimes it's easy to forget up on the hill the tensions that are rife in north america, tensions forgotten 'cause it's something of a monoculture.. but hey, I was in Whistler a few days ago, and ran into more people from everywhere than ever before -- things are changing--! So I'm not sure where you ski, but don't give it up, keep it going if you love the mountains, that's what it's about..
 
I learned in english today that race is made up and cant really be defined. BUT, i will try to help the stop of the IDEA of racism on NS.
 
why is it that if white people give shit to blacks asians or mexicans we are puut down and given shit for racism but all of the other people call us white boys or crakkas and its still ok?? in the end WHO GIVES A SHIT its just words get the fuck over it..
 
unfortunately dude the constitution in all forms is "just made out of words," and in the US, like australia, certain types of people were defined by these plain old little words as less than persons. "slave" is just a word too, but that's some heavy shit. that's all. I don't think anyone is being outta line hear, the racism charge is heavy, I think it's more of a heads-up. but australia is a very different place, the word "sexist" comes to mind when I think of aussie-land! and the aussie treatement of aboriginals is no history of nice words either, is it? heh.. take it easy man. these are just words.
 
Give me a break how is niggachusett insulting? who the fuck is it insulting? honestly i understand that NIGGER is a term which most colored people believe is truly hurtful....but nigga is a term used most widely in the BLACK/HISPANIC communities as a term of endearment / showing respect. AKA "thats my nigga" people need to fuckin get the stick out of their ass about stupid bullshit.....racism is prevelent everywhere....blacks are just as racist towards whites but whites dont bitch and moan about it ...as soon as something racist is said to a black they wild out about it and make it a big deal.......everyone just needs to take shit with a grain of salt......stupid kids on a internet forum sayin nigga isnt racism...its just dumb ass kids trying to fit in and shit.....refrecences to the KKK and use of the word NIGGER in a hateful context is a whole different game...most of the kids saying this shit dont even know black people or know anything about the black community and what its like....so yea racism is wack as hell but honestly a site with a bunch of little clowns who think they are funny and shit by saying racist stuff when they are completly clueless isnt the best place to try and start a revolution against racism on the internet....its gonna happen no matter what casue its easy as fuck to type something rather than say it in a public setting
 
Your right, I admire your effort and your ability to give a shit, but your time would better be spent someplace else. This place is loaded with 12-16 year old morons who still think they are badass for calling somebody a dumb nigger, and no amount of thread makin steeze can change it.

This is pretty much what I was talking about before when I was alluding to institutional racism and its contemporary forms. And I'm not trying to say that you're racist, I'm just trying to bring the point that the majority of racists acts come from good-intentioned people who really mean no harm, their racism comes from something that was learned and is or is not realized consciously.

And in regards to the the word "Nigger," that word is used within the Black and Hispanic communities because it has been reclaimed by those specific communities. It has not been reclaimed by the White community because, quite honestly, it can't.

Moreover, racisim is not a phenomena found only in Western European culture, it is found in every culture. The reason why their is outrage against White to Black racism and not very much concern over Black to White racism because White to Black racism has a long and sordid history behind it. And it is important to note that American Slavery in particular was the most atrocious system of slavery that any known civilization has set. Don't get me wrong, this does not mean that Black to White racism is "ok", its definitely not alright, but the other form causes more outrage because of its extensive history.
