I want to DL a new PC game for my laptop to play, but i do not know what to get....

Any recommendations? And just an FYI, i am not a huge fan of RTS's.

Oh, and my computer is not that fast, so it might have to be a semi shitty game

It was a very solid post though. I like those games!

But as an fyi to you guys, i like fantasy shit too. I used to be a WoWer

wait, your comp can run WoW but not any of those games? you sure you cant run Counterstrike Source? cause my computer can run that at very minimal settings but it has issues with WoW.

I was at a constant 11-15 FPS in the wild with few people around. I could barely go into the cities without lagging out haha.

Or maybe i am underestimating my laptop!

well, im curious, how old is your laptop? cause it sounds like your settings might be kinda screwed up. just tell me the age and leave out the random techy stuff cause i can get a pretty good gauge of off age.

WoW...Can play on most shitty comps at low setting. But by the time you installed all the patches and what not it would prolly be Wednesday.

wait, your comp from summer of 07 can't play half-life 2? what the hell is it? hl2's requirements are like nothing

Yeah, that seems pretty bad to me too... you may wanna have someone who knows what they're doing reformat your shit and speed it up, because even the shittiest laptop bought Summer 07 should be able to do HL2 at the lowest settings. The latop I bought for $350 new last summer can, and that's pretty fucking low tech.

As a sidenote, you should uninstall WoW. I struggled with that crack rock for a little over two years and let me tell you, nothing feels better than knowing you have absolutely no desire to play that shithole of a game ever again.

umm well fallout 3:the pitt just came out as downloadable content for xbox and it looks amazing.

correct me if i'm wrong: but i think you can get it for pc too!

yeah.. but he just said that he couldn't play half life, what makes you think he can play a more demanding game? :p

Sim city 4, or roller coaster tycoon... they never get old. and they both work on weak computers.

didn't seee that one. thanks asssshole. are you thread stalking me or something? gahh i cannot fucking wait to play the pitt!!!

dawn of war 2 is an RTS but the single player game has RPG elements to it.... its a very enjoyable game... and multiplayer rox.

If you enjoyed WC3 online, then you will love dawn of war 2.

Fallout 3 is a sick game for PC too.

To all inquiring:

My laptop is not as shitty as i though it was, i have been underestimating it.

Here are the specs:

And I already have a 360

haha i just went through this as well, i have an xbox with like 15 games yet i felt the need for some fun games for my new macbooki god cod 2 which is super fun, sim city 4, age of empires 2, and sixtyforce

no just the regular macbook, i'm too poor for the pro and i have a monitor, i just slapped 4gb of ram in my macbook
i was addicted to sims 1 and 2 so i can imagine i'll get caught up in 3 also

Your processor is really underpowered for source games (HL2 CS:S TF2) so all of those are ruled out. You don't have much ram for vista either, and I can't imagine your integrated video would work too well.

You could look up Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, which is a mad fun WWII shooter with a TON of mods. One of the best mods for W:ET is True Combat Elite, which is very similar to COD4.

-THIS GAME IS GUARANTEED TO WORK ACCEPTABLY ON YOUR SETUP... so look em up.

Seriously? I meat the ET recommendation is spot on, that game is dope shit, but he can DEFINITELY run HL2 and CS:S with that setup. I don't know if he has a video card, but I ran it with 1.7GHZ, 1GB RAM and a shitty 128MB video card on all Medium settings when it came out. Sure it was on XP, but contrary to popular belief Vista is not a system hog. At the very least you can pull it off on low settings, without a hitch. But you can do better...

1. Go to your Start Menu and in that little Search bar thing, type "msconfig" and press Enter.

2. Hit Disable All. Maybe keep AVG if you really think you need virus protection. The rest can go.

3. Apply, Exit, Restart.

Your computer will be at least twice as fast, and then it will DEFINITELY be able to run most of the games listed here.

+k dude, really detailed post

and yeah, HL2 and CS:S ran on my shitty ass desktop a couple years ago.. at medium settings at that. it was the lowest model dell and it had a integrated video card too

if he is going to play ET, he is gonna have to cap the fps at like 43, and avoid servers of like 20 or more people.

ET is a CPU based graphics game, and i don't know how well it is going to run on a 1.8 ghz processor

line rider 2. if youre tech savvy you can dl it and play it off any browser. i dont remember how but i have it on a flash drive. YAY

You're disabling the programs that start up with your computer. There's a ton of shit you probably don't even know about that set itself to start up... Spyware, shit you installed, etc. Anything you really want to be on at all times you can leave checked (you can USUALLY figure out what's what), but not a single box in there needs to be checked for your shit to work.

Who would've guessed... all that nerd knowledge I accumulated early in high school before I discovered much more satisfying distractions is actually useful every so often.
