Kinda bummed out. Not really sure how I feel about the whole ordeal.

For those who dont know, Celiac basically means I cant eat glutton. Sooo sandwiches, pasta, some types of beer, candy, chocolate, pizza ( I work at Panago, fuuuuuuuuu-) ect. pretty much anything that is made up of wheat. There is no know cure as it stands. If I do eat glutton it attacks my small intestine not allowing me to be able to get my needed vitamins or something? Not exactly sure how the whole thing works, all I know is after every time I eat wheat I feel like ass. Just the worst stomach ace ever.

Just made this thread to tell some one, I dont really want kids at school finding out till I decide how I feel about it, and was wondering if any of the other New Schoolers out their are in the same boat as me and could give me a few pointers?

For now though I just gotta keep the head up and keep on truck'in...

Oh and thanks for letting me vent, love you all.

sparknotes: Got diagnosed with Celiac today, really bummed out and wondering if anyone else knows what lies on the road ahead.

Pointers: go see a dietician, its spelled 'gluten', its not that bad I promise you, and chocolate? You can eat chocolate, just watch out for chocolate with cookies, wafers, etc. in it. Hit me up with a pm if you need advice on foods etc. I've been on the diet for a bunch of years.

Thanks bro, yea wasnt really sure on the spelling. really glad I can eat chocolate. That was one of the biggest bummers.. oh and +K for being a nice guy

Yea I told a few of my close buds and they were kinda joking about it. I dont really mind, it was almost nice to kinda have a laugh about it. Anyway though thanks for the support +K I really appreciate it

Sooo glad to hear that I dont have to give up a good proportion of what I eat!

theres some dope gluten free options. find a hipster store like a co-op or something and they have like whole gluten free sections. at least you weren't diagnosed with aids.

who would give you shit for not being able to eat gluten?

thats not even remotely funny [not in like a morally wrong way it just seems like no one would care(not in a douchey way like not caring about your problems, it just doesnt seem like a big enough deal for anyone to think it justifiable to give you shit for)]

my aunt cant eat gluten, theres a shitload of gluten free stuff it seems and ive eaten it when my grandmother cooks it for her and it tastes the same to me

Thank fucking god. I dont know what i'd do if I got da aids...

and didnt have to post this:

Just go full hipster, that much shopping in the gluten free aisle will eventually turn you, just submit now.

don't worry about it dude, tons of ppl are lactose intolerant and its the same thing just with gluten.

I know one chick that had it and it took her like 3 years to finally get diagnosed with it. Even now though she still cheats and mows a pizza here and there though.

dont worry about it homie, I know a lot of people who have celiac disease. You just gotta start hunting around for the best "wheat substitute" food. my suggestion: DO NOT get the rice noodles mac and cheese. princessacha (NSer) made it once and it tasted like puke. maybe she's just an awful cook though...

good luck man!

Dude thay really sucks but you can still live with it! My girlfreond was diagnosed at the age of like 2 and she looks fab.!! Also you can eat chocolate and most of candy. For beer ther are tons of other alchool that you could drink like vodka from potatoes, and ther are lots of non wheat beers.
Good luck!
K+ for having the balls to NS it.

Hey man, it's nothing to ashamed about, I know quite a few celiac people who don't have very much trouble making due with gluten free foods, if you want I could ask them what their favorite gluten free foods are and send you links or whatnot, anyways, all the best man +vibes

What makes you different makes you more beautiful, live your life and don't let little things pull you down. I was diagnosed with (DDD) Degenerative Disk Disease and i have herniated disks in c3-c4 in my neck. Although i was bummed for a while, my freinds and family helped me make it through. Don't be afraid to ventalate to the people you are close to and they will help you surpass your problems, anyhow.. good luck!

its kinda sucks, but its not that bad my uncle has it and eats steak, ribs and amazing potatoes constantly

the good thing is this isn't a rare thing and some people even consciously choose to cut wheat out of their diet so there are tons of options available now. As for sandwiches and stuff no worries there are other flours made from rice or potatoe that you can bake anything you'd make out of wheat so you'll still be able to eat most of the same things.

good news! there are now a lot of gluten free options, like gluten free pizza! so no better way to make a suggestion to your boss! there's a lot of alternative recipes for everything, even cake, and etc. my friend's celiac, it sucks but, once you find all your new options it's easier.

A lot of restaurants are starting to make gluten free menus now too. My gf is gluten/lactose intolerant so I've had to find a whole bunch of places we can both eat. If you're out in Colorado (sry didnt look at your profile lol) Beau Jo's has gluten free pizza that's actually really good. Just look out for the shady lookin stuff like "Roads End Mac + Chreeze"...shit's nasty.

yeah. i feel like this is one of that many conditions that would be fucking awful even a few decades ago, but is pretty manageable nowadays. dont worry about it too much i know a few people with celiac's and they eat well, not a big deal once they got used to it

may i ask how you only found out now? didnt you notice before?

google celiac diets and there are tons of websites that come up with different foods to make like http://www.celiac.com and they also have magazines that they ship to you for free good luck luck and remember your not alone

Things could be worse. I have a couple friends who have this and it's not a big deal. Sack up and live with it, look on the bright side at least you don't have AIDS.

bummer...no oreo's.......if you live in a city you should have no problem goin to gluten free bakery's those things are sweeet, and just read up on the lables of the grains you buy

celiac sucks at first but give it time...it isn't all that big of a deal. My mom has had it for about 10 years now and I was just diagnosed a year ago. At first it seems really limiting but there's a lot of gluten free options out there and a lot of restaurants now have gluten free menus. The biggest difference it makes in my life is I kinda have to pack food when I go on a trip...annoying but if you look on the bright side it's healthier and cheaper. feel free to PM me if you want any advice. also, kids won't give you shit for it...so you can't eat wheat, rye, or barley, what of it?

also, keep in mind you're really lucky! even five or ten years ago celiac was often misdiagnosed...it's good you got diagnosed now so you can stay healthy and prevent intestinal cancer!

A girl on my sailing team is celiac,. Use garbonzo bean flour, she never shuts up about how its the best non wheat stuff.

Mad thanks to everyone! (+K) Definitely feel a lot better about it. Any one know of good beers that are gluten free?!

I'v been chatting with some other Celiac members and they realllllyyyy healped me out!

Much much much love

Max you're an butt head! i am not an awful cook!
And dude, it's really not that bad. I mean it's shitty, but you got this.Stock up on GF pretzels, they're better than regular ones.Corn substitutes>Rice substitutes, always, especially for pasta. Rice pasta's really starchy. You can eat KD cheese mix with GF noodles, so you're set for mac and cheese.Never eat the bread untoasted, you'll regret it. tastes like sand.As far as chocolate goes, you've already been told not to eat the kinds with cookies in them, obviously... also, Lindt and lindor chocolates contain malt extracts, so stay away.Really though, you just have to start reading labels. At restaurants, key things to watch out for are sauces that contain flour or soy sauce (which contains wheat). And obviously things that are breaded.Good luck!

i tried gluten free for a few months this past fall for a separate health reson. its kind of a bummer but there are plenty of great gluten free products so you get used to it. Theres an organic & health food store that i go to and theyre great for gluten free foods and snacks - find a store near you.

And pizza restaurants are slowly starting to offer gluten free crust which is great

good luck

You can eat pizza. Alot of places offfer normal pizza then gluten free pizza. My friends mom has it and she eats everything that everybody else does just gluten free.

It's a lot more common than you think. No reason to be bummer out. I use to have pretty bad lactose intolerance and IBS. They're all just things you can deal with. (Oddly enough I kind of outgrew both of those because I hardly have either at all anymore)

dont worrytoo much aboutd it man, try to stick you your new diet as much as you can but i mean if you havr a hankering for some gluten producty you cant get fium anyerhtre else, just giver and you ll feel shitty for a little. but youre stil the same guy, dont let it control your life.

It isnt all that bad, people dont really judge you with it, one of my close mates has it and well yea i dont see him any different.
Oh and i opened this thinking it was some kind of STD. Learn something new everyday

My sister has IBS and she can't eaten any glutten and all that glutten free shit is pretty expensive. It's like 6 dollars for a box of leapin lemurs..... Those basterds
