...because they didnt want people wrecking themselves on huge features.
who said red bull would make bigger features?? no one.
im pretty damn rattled

my mountain has turned down TONS of sponsors because they don't want anything advertised in their park other than "liberty mtn"

that sound like a horrible reason to turn it down. Your mountain would of got a lot of funding for their parks! that sucks

Might not be as clear-cut as it seems.

The mountain I shred at has sponsors, but can't have any logos or anything on the mountain, reducing any gains from sponsors.

But if it is indeed because they don't want people getting wrecked on big features, put up some red tape for said big features. Red Bull + cash money could = big exposure which could further = more cash money.

they may not have been able to build bigger features because of their insurance and shit, that happened to a hill i used to ski at

what-you-did-there-i-see-it.jpg

they also said that they didnt want red bull as a sponsor because the mountain is family oriented
well guess what mt washington
families have kids
kids like fun
terrain park = fun
therefore kids like the park
better the park = more fun
red bull sponsorship = BETTER PARK
because the park is so fun its addicting, you can suck $800 a year from most kids in the park for season's passes, not mentioning the shop charges and lunch at the cafeteria and such.

i love my home mountain, but cmon, lets get serious..

Guess what kiddos. As some one who has working in terrain parks for better part of a decade, here's a surprising fact.

Terrain parks are nothing but money pits.

Resorts do not make a profit off their terrain parks. Sinking a bunch of money into them, will not bring a return of their money.

By bringing a large sponsor into your park, it will most likely increase insurance rates for the park. It will most likely increase maintenance costs for the cats in man hours and fuel.

Here's one of my quotes from another thread, that I think it pretty relevant to this thread:

-"When was the last time you went to a resort, payed for 4 full price lift tickets, bought lunch for 4 people, payed for a couple lessons, spent a couple hundred (or thousands!) in the ski shop, and ended up the day with a couple rounds of beers for everyone?

Fact is, park rats show up, usually try to scam a lift ticket from someone in the parking lot or get a hook-up from someone that works there, drinks PBR from their trunk. MAYBE orders some fries and eats 1/2 pound of the free pickles and saltine crackers."-

yeah but it should still ease the cost of a half-decent park, not anything bigger (i cant imagine a bigger park for a 1600 acre mountain, 45% of wich being steep&deep) just better set up rails, and jumps that dont look like a mound of snow on another mound of snow that had the cat go over it.

Damn that kinda sucks, wouldn't your mountain be able to help with the park at all and say they don't want way bigger features?

very good point but it does however keep all the park rats of the rest off the mountain which in turn allows for a better gaper experience in turn making them come back to drop g's again and again.

sierra only takes sponsers from freaking snowboarding companys now.... we just had a huge step up built for the snowboard comp and they tore it down a day later. luckily me and a bunch of friends managed to sneek one hit on it. the thing was fucken massive

That rumor has been going around mount washington for years, i wouldn't regard it as truth unless I heard it from peter or any of the sub managers. I would also imagine they have a contract with rockstar, but I'm not sure.

however washington is bad enough with their jumps, I can't imagine building bigger ones would be a good thing.

maybe they had too much cum in there ears from hearing the cream dream? must have created an interpritation error. so maybe instead of them hearing "Want reabull to sponsor your mountain?" they heard "red bull" and "sponsor" and immediately thought they said your competators mountain.

my mountain is $$ oriented. they were gunna make a "viewing park" right under the biggest chairlift above the village (interwest) so all the ppl at the mtn would see it.
so it was gunna be 60ft -120 ft jumps or whatever they wanted and a rail like. just a super huge and creative park under the main chair. but not losing their already wicked park... at the park.

but they are still thinking about it.
cant wait till some kid gets seriously injured... while the whole mtn watches...
