Soo America hates North Carolina?

I live in NC and we just passed an amendment that doesn't allow gay marriage. now "dear north carolina" is trending on twitter and most tweets say we are the most hated state in America now. thoughts?
 
I don't know about hate.. but the other night when I was naming US states it was one of the 45 I knew, so at least I'm aware of it.
 


People are bummed because they think homosexual citizens should have the same rights as heterosexual citizens.

They'll probably get over it.
 
i live in NC and i'm glad we passed the amendment.

1. I don't hate gays, i just don't believe that it is "marriage" and therefore the couple shouldn't have the same legal benefits as a true "marriage" i.e. man & woman.

2. amendment one does not "take away the rights" of a woman in a relationship (not married) who suffers from a domestic violence crime as some commercials may say.

every american citizen has the right to file an assault or harassment lawsuit against another person, and they will still be able to do so in NC even though the amendment passed. its just something bitches misinterpreted and its blowing up all over the media, getting on my nerves

 
ya I couldn't stand to even look at facebook or twitter all day because that's all everybody is talking about, the worst part is most people talking about it can't/didn't vote
 
Fuck you. You're saying that because someone is in a committed healthy relationship that happens to be of the same gender that they can't visit their significant other in a hospital if an emergency arises?

i also live in NC and my facebook is blowing up.. its annoying.. everyone is complaining and none of them are old enough to vote. oh and all the counties that voted against it were counties with colleges in them like app state and unc and duke
 
not everyone lives in the great US of A, even still im canadian and can name at least 30 states. and to the NC thing, fuck your state must suck, if they dont let people who love each other marry what are the odds of them every legalizing pot or lowering the drinking age and what not?
 
Marriage is a religious ceremony pretty much. I agree that if it against said religion it should not be allowed.

BUT CIVIL UNIONS should be allowed between gays. They then get the benefits that the government gives married people.
 
marriage is a pact between two people, and it does not have to be religious, all you haters just use that as an excuse. did the bible invent the bond between man and woman? no, but i guess Christians could argue against that too.
 
your 19th century contemporaries would of been people who advocated for Jim Crow laws. Making a BS argument that gays are somehow not second class citizens ("i don't hate gays, BUT")while at the same time denying them their rights and liberty is nauseating. only in "the land of the free" does this type of shit happen.
 
on this note, if a church wants to prevent gays from getting married in their church they can, but the secular states of america have no right to deny them because they cannot have religious preference in choosing what the definition of marriage is.

gay people should just make a religion that says marriage is between two people of the same sex. It probably would be more original and not as ridiculous as all that abrahamic bullshit.

i see your side of the argument, i really do. but at the same time, i don't believe it is truly a marriage. i understand that NS is full of gay-supporters and i will get loads of hate for having this opinion, and i'm prepared for that. but i respect your opinion, so please return the favor.

i see being gay as more of a fad. i think children that gay couples raise will grow up and be confused as to why their adopted parents are in such a relationship. i just don't think it is human nature, from a scientific standpoint.

My 8th grade teacher was gay and christian, he was married in a church that advocated for the rights of all people, kind of like a gay church i guess :/
 
No I won't return the favor because your opinion is fucking bullshit. You are a piece of shit. You are denying human beings to basic rights because of their love for one another. By them getting married does absolutely NOTHING to effect you. So stop trying to run their lives and make choices for them.

Yeah there are definitely very accepting and liberal churches out there who believe that gays have human rights like everyone else. The problem is there should be more of those churches.
 
thats hilarious, the idea that gay marriage is a fad is absurd. Those who were gay before were oppressed too much to be openly gay and thus didn't come out to society. and im sure a lot of you right now are thinking "look at this kid, i bet he's totally gay" false, i go to an urban highschool in which there happen to be gay pople, this may surprise you but they are just like everyone else. My math tutor is also gay, but he's probably smarter than a lot of you guys. just give people a chance to live, what do you care, no one is forcing you to be gay, just chill.
 
see, people from different parts of the country grew up differently, have different outlooks on life, and in turn have different opinions.

on a side note, this is just one of the many reasons i believe america should put more emphasis on a smaller federal government and larger state governments. i know that a is a very stereotypical "southern" point of view, but think about it:

all states would have varying laws, so people would be able to move to a state that fit their lifestyle law-wise, and live peacefully.

i could live in a gay-free state (i'm not homophobic, i accept their existence and unalienable rights. i just choose not to associate), while there would be 15 other states that allow gays to live peacefully for you to choose from.

but, /endrant.

nooo. i think hes right, i have nothign against gays, but marriage is for a couple to REPRODUCE and raise a new member of society, and if they are not doing so, they do not need the legal benefits of marriage in that situation.

they can have some other kind of legal bond legitimitized by a piece of paper, but thats kinda changing the definitions of things

what if i say your definition of marriage is wrong? what if i say that why YOU think marrige is is wrong? because it is, so fuck you, thats why. Learn that we dont live in the 1800's anymore and that people can do whatever they want with themselves, who are we to get in there way?

shit, its just a matter of time. the "land of the free" doesn't exist. you cannot, CANNOT run a full-fledged democratic country with over 311 million citizens. that is too many varying opinions on SO many different aspects of life. all the states should be ran likened to being their own little country, the way Europe is divided. although we'd have to form some small federal government to make sure the baby countries wouldn't fight. idk, i've ran ideas like this through my head too many times, its the ganja's fault.

i'm not some redneck mud-truckin' country fuck, i understand society and how it works. most of you kids live in urban areas, so i understand how your opinion on any subject will vary from mine, because you've grown up way differently than kids like me.

Just a question, without any religion or opinion thrown in, why should gay marriage be illegal? With separation between church and state I don't see how gay marriage can be illegal...

About the reproduction part, there are so many kids who need to be adopted, and are eating up government funds that supporting any type of marriage that would bring that number down would be

a positive impact I would think....

That question can be answered by anyone.

Its none of your business how people raise there children. I could raise my children to be nazis and there isnt jack shit you can do about it, because there my children and thats my right. Just like the people of westboro church can raise their children to hate gay people.

Maybe it is unfair for a child to grow up with gay parents, maybe they will feel like outcasts. But isnt it unfair that children have to grow up in the hood, with shitty schools, druggy parents and no money; while others live in excess. Don't pretend this is about the children, thats a bullshit argument.

If you think gays cant raise children, and shouldnt be legally allowed to. Then I say that people from the south shouldnt be able to raise children, cause the south is dumb.

no, it is not. its because every human being on the face of this planet has their own opinion. on everything. just because they have one opinion on something does not make them an awful person, it just makes them different, unique.

unique's that are alike associate with each other, and should be allowed to do so. which they are. NC is just a group of unique's that like marriage the way it is.
 
i never said this was about the children, i just used them in an example. i also never said anything about gays not being able to raise children, gays can raise children just like any other human being with a heart.

i didn't vote, i've yet to register. but i would've voted for it, and support amendment one.

it isn't because of prejudices either, i've been exposed to gay citizens both male and female. just as any other person has.

but the more i read your post though, i feel as if its a troll post........

just saying they should have something exactly like marriage but called something else, and have different legal benefits. Have you ever seen a successful gay couple in the wild? theres this thing most american children are taught around 10th grade that is part of life, natural selection we call it, and since there would be no reproduction in said situation their genes are not passed on and they are naturally not selected to continue on their species.

but hey do whatever you want, the only one whos really judging you is yourself, and nobody else

And if the reason of marriage is reproduction, then would you agree that sterile men and infertile women should not be allowed to marry as well? I mean, it's the same thing, right?

Everyone is entitled to the pursuit of happiness, as long as it does not interfere with the happiness of others. I think we can all agree on that. So if the children are not the issue, and it seems that you agree. Than whats the problem, who is being hurt.

 
Have you ever seen a marriage in the wild? have you ever seen a bill designed to restrict homosexual marriage be presented, and voted for, in the wild?
 
So what if a couple doesn't intend on having children? Then should they not be allowed to get married?
