Pretty much you'll want to do yourself a favor and get something digital...Hi8 is analog and therefore you'll lose quality when transferring to a computer or anything else for that matter.

Film, such as 16mm is also analog and you might be wondering 'well why doesn't that suck in quality, I mean they use it in big ski movies'. That's because transferring the film onto a computer involves individually scanning each frame which you will not be doing with a Hi8 handicam.

hahahahahaha^ you a funny, funny man

DV is much better quality no matter what the resolution says on a hi8

I heard this one guy on here say that hi8 had half the resolution of 16mm miniDV. ha. fucks.

because I like poop.

just get the camera if that's what you can afford. it's way better to be filming than not, and when you can save up for a media camcorder or a high definition camcorder.

No Props!

and samsung has a camcorder specifically for outdoor filming which is incredible for skiing, i think you should check that out.

No Props!
