Sony handycam trv experience?

Id be willin to spend around 400 for a cam plus accesories and im looking at the hi8 sony handycam ccd-trv87/99. I dont really film that often but i wanna get into it. I also use premire to edit, but im more worried abt footy cause u can only do so much. Anyways, has anyone used these and got some opinions on them.
 
I don't know if exporting hi8 tape footage is that same as minidv but with minidv tapes the only easy way to export them is on an apple computer with iMovie but on a windows computer its a pain in the ass.

Trv's are fun, just make sure it's got the red yellow white rca ports and u can get a 15 dollar rca to usb cable to convert
