Anyone use this for skiing? Thinking about buying one instead of a Gopro...was looking at some used go pros on ebay for the price I can buy a new action cam w/ so many extra accessories.

I only would use it for skiing. Worth it? Or should I just go gopro.

I had a go pro 2 (fell into lake deep down) and it was to heavy I thought and top heavy. Curious how the new ones are. The new small go pro looks pretty cool but reviews say it has worse video quality

unless you like your goggles suffocatingly tight the goggle mount sucks, which is the only real advantage it has over the gopro. my 1st gen one is pretty heavy and it has an awkward shape for a traditional helmet mount. I would have got a gopro instead if I had the choice.

can you elaborate on the goggle strap mount? i only saw it for the first time recently and it made me really consider getting one if i get another POV camera. it looks small and easy to wear on the goggle like that

When I tried using it the camera would shake around and pull my goggles down, and would also make your head off balance. I pretty much had to tighten them to the point they were painful, which sucked. Maybe if you wear your goggles outside your helmet it works better but I thought it was pretty meh. The camera itself is still nice, and I'll still use it on deep days (with a teletubbie mount since it didnt come with an angle adjuster) but gopro seems better.

word yeah come to think of it, i wear my goggs under my helmet and i dont need a camera that's going to tempt me to not wear my helmet more than i already do

thanks for the answer

But it looks like gopro it is. Seems like the camera of choice these days anyways. Hope to find a good deal on a go pro 3 silver on ebay.

i really liked mine...loved it actually. then i was a dumbass cliff diving without a mount/ strap etc...you can imagine how that went. would recommend over gopro imo.

I also would recommend it over GoPro, I got one with all the accessories for Filmer Unknown and I personally think the accessory build quality is better, and it has this cool camcorder attachment that turns it into like an old school handheld camcorder which is sick for just some casual shooting because it can fit in your pocket fairly easily.

Nice...will look into it more. I plan on pretty much only using it for skiing POV / follow cams and the occasional time when I want to put i on a stick or something.

After seeing all the stuff that TGR has put out using it, I have to say the video quality is no worse than anything GoPro would have had in the same situation, thats for sure...

I'll say this from having a contour though... which is a similar configuration... I definitely like the setup for the goggle strap mount, but it always curls away and makes my head lean over unbalanced and crap. At the same time, the top mount, or mounting it on your ski, handlebars, or whatever is way more low profile than a gopro.

I guess I don't know how the Sony works very well in comparison to the contour, but if it can rotate the view as seamlessly, then that would be sweet...

Incorporating both would be the sickest tho. Goggle strap cam plus chesty mount ftw.

I've always been a GoPro Consumer, but after the 3+ Black I decided to wait. The reasoning is the Action cam is less versatile because of its helmet side mount profile, but it has Image stabilization. I use a Chesty so footage is never bumpy but it would be nice to get the same quality having it on a helmet or a ski/ski boot. Wait for the HERO 5 to be released then make the decision
