Somebody died at stevens pass???

My parents told me today that some one died at stevens yesterday, (sat.) Its weird cus i was their and i dident see or hear any thing. You guys hear about it?
 
yeah i heard that too....around 4:00 or so all the patrolers and park crew were asking everyone entering the park if they had witnessed the kid's crash. I guess it was off the waterfall, or the second hit in that line. Don't know much more though.
 
yea i guess they were giving him cpr on his way down in the sled. I feel bad for the parents and family. I really hope they don't try to get a lawsuit against the pass.

anyone know the new rules on lawsuits with the new park pass?
 
well they have effectively signed their rights to sue away twice with the park pass and lift ticket/season pass. as long as stevens pass got in stuff including neglect of stevens pass or it's associates they should be clear. And payers for his family.
 
thats terrible news... really sucks for his family. i also hope stevens doesnt get fucked by this, although it sounds like kind of a freak accident... anyone know what he was doing/?
 
was it just me or did the jumps seam kinda sketch that day? Like the speed varied a shit load between runs for me, and the pop was weird so i only hit the pro line a few times. I never was able to get enough speed for the second waterfall hit, or the step up. I would bomb from the top of the park and pop hella and still nuckle the step up. As far as the second waterfall hit, i completely cased the landing a few times. But i snowboard, and i have a short scratched up board so that probly dident help much... haha.

Wait. It seems really wierd to me someone died in the park I thought if anyone was going to die in washington right now it would be the result of an avalance in the bc or something. Anyway like i already said:

Yesterday was fucked up. I hurt my neck pretty good on the waterfall. Just hitting it for the first time after lunch and the snow was weird, didn't quite know how fast to go, but I had been going medium fast by the time I was to the drop before lunch and stomping it everytime, just trying various grabs an not spinning on it cause the lip seemed weird I dunno. But I hit it going to fast cause I didn't wanna knuckle it and it popped me up higher than I thought and I fucked up and could barely move my neck so I went in for the rest of the day. Next time I'm up there I'm gonna stomp the shit out of it though.

STEVENS PASS, Wash. -- A snowboarder was killed in an accident in the Cascades on Saturday, officials said Sunday.

The King County Medical Examiner's Office said the man fell off a jump at a snowboarding park.

The man's name has not been released and the circumstances surrounding his death are not known.

No other details were immediately available.
 
You guys just have to know what you're doing, you have to be able to feel the speed for a jump, not just know where you should drop from.

Although, you guys that were up there that day, your testimony might be really help stevens in the event of a lawsuit. Say he died because he overshot... if you were to testify that the speed was really inconsistent that day due to snow conditions, it could be proven that he died because of changing snow speed conditions and his lack of ability to adapt to them, instead of them deciding that Stevens "misengineered" the jump.
 
Ya, the snow was suuuuper sketch that day. I stomped the jump fine like 3 times earlier then went in for lunch and came out (had snowed a lot during lunch) and then the speed was hard to get right. The jump was fine if you knew the right speed and where to drop from. Dropping from the drop area was realllly hard to clear unless you had suuuper waxed up skis and were heavy and going fast. Overshooting would be hard to do unless he dropped from the very top of the park. Stevens Pass is definitely not at fault. I got hurt cause I was just not sure how fast to go. In any case it would have been better to knuckle that day because the lip wasn't large liek it usually is. I knuckled twice and it hurt, but not that bad, snow was really soft that day. Overshooting would be deadly, and it really was unfortunately.
 
I hit it like 3 times fine and i new the apropriate speed for it, I came back a run later and hit it starting from were i did the time before and my speed was completely different, (cased the landing). I know how to speed check.

If i had to speed check every run i wouldn't be able to hit the jump...
