so i was at vail today going up a lift. i was about to get into the singles line when some bitch gaper lady in some gay ass jacket barges in front of me. I was in a good mood just listening to my ipod so i let it go. Then, the cunt takes out a cigarette and first the guy who checks the passes very nicely asks her to put out the cigarette but she just keeps going. Then, the liftie asks her nicely again to put it out because its a national park rule that you cant smoke it in (vail is a national park) and just ignores him. So finally im on the lift behind her and i still see her blowing smoke out so by the time im at the top i say "put ur fucking cigarette out you bitch" and then she just looks at me and skis away. Sorry just pissed me off

no... thats just stupid. just because you like smoking doesn't mean i or anyone else there does. I dont want to inhale your gross ass cigg smoke while im skiing, enjoying the fresh clean crisp air. dont be a dick, you can take a break somewhere on a trail to smoke, not on a lift
 
At my home mountain there is a long flat part, after the lift, to ski before you get going down. At least once whenever I go there is a snowboarder smoking his ciggs while he kick pushes to the end of the flat part. I always have a strong urge to just fucking push them over and ski away.

The cool breeze, the beautiful snow, a nice clear day, and some cigarette smoke.

One of these things just doesn't belong.

That's gotta be my biggest pet-peeve ever: people smoking around athlete's while they're trying to do whatever sport it is they do. I play rugby for my school, and while we appreciate that people come to watch us and all, if you're going to smoke on the sidelines where we can't avoid it, stay the fuck at home.

Honestly... if you've gotta smoke while you're skiing, have some decency and do it where other people can get away from your disgusting habit if they don't want to breath that shit.

My local hill is in a national forest but smoking is only prohibited on the lifts and in lines so I don't know about that. And as far as I'm concerned I'll smoke anywhere I damn well please that's outside. I do throw my butts in the trash when I'm at the hill though.

 
I can't stand those kind of people that just dont care about anything. It is like whenever you go up with the lift and you look down and see trash everywhere. It's so disrespectful and if I rode a lift with some ass-wipe throwing trash and cigarettes all over the place.... I would throw that douche off the lift..

really though. you people complaining need to shut up. someone smoking on the chair ahead of you isn't going to give you lung cancer. Oh yea, and can you give me a source to vail being a national park? I don't believe that at all.

One thing I will agree with you on - is smoking in the lift line. it's just wrong. As a smoker I don't smoke in the lift line, If I'm smoking and there's under agers around I will position myself in a place downwind from them, 'cause I feel guilty. When I'm on the chair with non-smokers I ask them for permission to smoke before I light up. And I don't flick my butts like they're bio-degradable ('cause fiberglass filters will be around for many years after you flick that shit). About 80% of the time though I roll my own smokes, so they are bio-degradable.
Sorry but, I know people like you, and I think hating on smokers just for the fact that they are smokers is just as bad as someone hating on a skier just because they ski.
Write me a list of everything that touches your skin, everything you eat, what you're cooking on, what your floors are made of, what ski wax you use, what your outerwear is made of, everything that you buy, EVERYTHING. I am very certain that almost all of it is harmful to yourself and others in terms of causing cancer. Think about that before hating on smokers.
 
yea, i hear ya on that one. riding the chair at my hill right now is depressing. every 20m or so there's a bunch of beer cans, coffee cups, and other garbage littered everywhere. what piss's me off most is that most of the "garbage" is recyclable. you know? it's like fuck dude - there's a recycling bin when you get off the chair at the top, why not just hold on to it for another couple minutes.

These are the people you should be putting your negative energy towards. not some chick who's simply smoking a cigg. there's bigger fish to fry.

But when I'm in a lift line and people are smoking and I have to breathe and smell that shit, I always feel like pooping in the hood of their jacket so they could have to deal with breathing in my stinky shit.
 
Wow she was smoking on the lift in front of you and you felt the need to call her a bitch. That is quite a bit more offensive than the tiny bit of tobacco smoke that may have reached your chairlift.

I smoke on the lift with my friends but no around other people. I usually just wait till I'm at the top or ask if they are alright with it. I never smoke around kids because thats just not cool. I don't flick my cigarettes off the lift though. I put them out on my ski pole or pinch off the filter and put it in my pocket.
 
I dont care that they were smoking, but have some decency to stop after 3 different people ask you stop and when it is a rule at the hill

And yes I would smoke on a lift with a little kid on the chair behind me because the chairs are like 15 feet fucking apart and its fucking windy outside and he isn't going to smell it or get any cancer.

Plus, America was built on tobacco so its really just like breathing freedom into everyone's face.
 
I respect that you don't smoke around kids and in the lift lines, and that you also don't find the mountain your ashtray. I think nothing pisses people more off, but you got to understand that there is a difference between what you do to your self and what others do to you. Your allowed to cause potential harm to yourself but people cant do that to you. That's a fundamental American principle and one that a lot of smokers do not get.

on the other hand, i don't like people dropping butts on the mountain, so thas why i ride with a mountain ashtray.
 
I hate it when people in the chair in front of me are smoking and there's no wind. My chair goes right through their fucking smoke cloud. By the time I get to the top my outerwear smells like shit.
 
As long as people aren't throwing their butts all over the place, I really don't see what the problem is. If you're so uptight that a little tobacco smoke on the chairlift torques your goose so badly that you need to call someone a bitch (wwaaayyy more offensive than smoking in my book) and then post on the internet, you really need to just relax a bit. Sure tobacco smoke doesn't smell that great, but you're outside skiing for crying out loud. Its seriously not that big of a deal. The lady was probably addicted and smoking helps her enjoy her day, big deal.

and the chair lifts are 15 feet apart? so what... your smoke stays stationary for the most part, we move right through it, wind or not, you smell it. As long as a smoker isnt blowing smoke in your face, who cares smokers dont just blow there smoke into people who are non smokers. everyone who smokes, knows its bad for them and for the most part are respectful of others and wont purposely blow smoke in your vicinity.

Driving 56 mph in a 55 zone is against the rules too but I'm sure your the asshole holding up traffic obeying the rules. That rule is fuckin whack. If your not subjecting people to your second hand smoke or pitchin butts on the mothers it shouldn't matter. Whats next farting in a national forest is prohbited. The smoke from the groomers not to mention the leaking oil and fluids do way more damage to the beloved National Forest than if every person their chain smoked fuck them and their high horse

Is it really so hard to understand that it's not okay to inflict yourself upon others? Not altogether unlike riding a bus without showering in a week or going to the gym and leaving the machines all sweaty. Answering your cell phone in a movie theatre. Whatever. Do what you can to not make your own habits affect other people: it's your choice to smoke, so the inconvenience of taking steps to minimize its ability to annoy the piss out of others is your burden.

I respect people that smoke that's their choice they can do whatever they please with their life but seriously when you're standing in the lift line and someone is blowing smoke in your face it's not pleasant and I don't see how its necessary for someone to smoke during an ATHLETIC activity, seriously do you see people smoking in the hockey arena on the bench? Sriously I spend my time in a city 80% of the time sucking up smog and its nice to be able to go out to the mountain to get some fresh air is that too much to ask? clearly it seems that wayare you that addicted to smoking that you have to break rules and smoke while you're skiing?maybe you should be taking a good look at your life instead of bitching at us "uptight" peopleits not about being uptight its about respect
 
legally a cop can give you a ticket for going over the limit by 1mph, but its not worth it, they would rather get the guy going 20 over.

your saying we dont really have to obey rules because cops dont give out tickets for driving over the limit to a certain extent. so what? its ok to murder?

and if in the trees or on the side of a trail smoking, i dont care, but not on lift lines on on lifts or in crowded areas.

I dont get why you need to be an asshole... why can't you just be a good person and respect others around you?
