Soleus pain from boots

I don’t get shin bang very often, but whenever I lean back at all in my boots, I get a very bad pain in my soleus’s. Well i think its my soleus. It is definitely a tendon that is out the outer side of the lower leg that runs right above the ankle. It gets tender to the touch after a rough day. It was tender to the touch after 90 minutes of skiing today and I didn’t even land back seat once. I don’t know if this is a boot issue because i get it some years and some I don’t, but it is making me very mad because its ruining my ability to ski. Any others with experience of this happening? I can’t find it anywhere online.

Do you have booster straps? Or run super tight on your upper buckle + strap?

It sounds like you're cranking down really hard on a hotspot or pressure point.

When it hurts next time go into the lodge, take off boot (and sock), see what area looks red and inflamed, and loosen that area slightly. Use the microadjusts on your buckles and loosen very gradually.

If some self-adjusting and trial/error don't do it, go see a bootfitter. Probably just go see a bootfitter anyway, they're worth every single penny you pay them.

Good luck!

Well I thought tight boots mean less issues with pain. Its a 3 buckle boot so Ill run the upper buckle looser than normal and see what happens. It can’t really get worse than it currently is.

Also make sure you're buckling your boots properly. I know it sounds stupid but even alot of good skiers don't. Bootfitter would normally tell you how but if not watch a YouTube video even. The goal ain't just to crank your boots as tight as is comfortable. The goal is to get them so that your foot is held in the right position firmly

get custom foot beds, they make a bigger difference than you think

I already dropped 150 bones on them. I had to get a new pair of skis mounted this week, and its like -20 windchill all weekend, so I am just taking the week off. Hopefully that will help.
