Soles for Boots

Would if be bad if I put normal shoe soles into my ski boot instead of the old original boot soles for better cushioning?

It won't really do anything except take up volume.

Most people think they need cushioning but what you should rather get is a supportive footbed. This will properly hold your foot in place, make it biomechanically stronger/more stable, and prevent your toes from smashing the front of the shell.

All soft-gel type insoles will do is make the movement and banging around in your shell that much worse.

This. If park skiers think they need shock absorption in their boots, they should take a look at ski racers and their boots. Racers are subjected to much more impact and shock than park skiers.

park skiers really have no idea...

As one nerdy says soft insoles wont really help. One way I was taught to think about it is this. If you cover your arm with a soft pillow and then someone hit your arm with a hammer you would feel it all as the impact would go through the soft pillow. If you instead put a piece of wood on your arm and someone hits that you would feel less impact as you the wood takes the blow. Weird to think about but harder materials can often offer better shock protection. That is the reason most custom footbeds are failry firm rather then soft and cushioning like show insoles.
