As an european i was really surprised that this would be one of the largest array in Colorado. It really is amazing thing that Aspen does something for the environment. But it still only produces enough energy for 20 households. So i think the attention that it gets in that article is a lil overrated.

Is the alternative energy industry serious that small in the US?

OK well first off the solar array is in Carbondale not Aspen but was funded by the Aspen Skiing Corporation. The town of Aspen itself wont do shit to support alternative energy and it is amazing that Carbondale has done this and although it does only support 20 households it represents the new energy frontier and there is many more solar arrays in Carbondale just smaller and in other parts of colorado i even have solar on my house.

solar panels and shit are way too expensive. fuck that. You can heat and cool your home naturally through design and use of the sun(not solar panels). Especially in the climate of colorado, you can design homes that dont need heating or AC.

although what your saying is true you need power to power all the many things in your home that require electricity and yes it is expensive but you get 51 percent back from the government after installation.
