Softer or stiffer for moguls?

I am a senior citizen; 5'7" 140lbs advanced skier, just learning moguls now. My go-to ski is a Blizzard Brahma 173mm; 88 underfoot. I want to get a pair of skis JUST for learning to improve in moguls. I am told I want shorter, and narrower. Some tell me stiffer, most tell me softer. I am looking for about 160mm length, 70-76 underfoot. Softer usually means beginner skis, which are plentiful, but I don't want to make a mistake. Do I want soft? Is beginner ski OK? Any recommendations? Thanks!!
 
A softer ski will be more forgiving, a stiffer ski will be more supportive and responsive. Look into IDone for mogul specific skis and perhaps contact them for advice.
 
I kinda think something in between. I've done race skis in moguls in the past and that's way too much, but noodles aren't ideal either.

I don't have much experience with Blizzard skis, but my gut tells me you should focus first on the technique with the skis you already own
 
Tactics and technique are the biggest thing to learn and understand with moguls.

A slalom ski is usually pretty effective as they are shorter than other skis but with a more aggressive and effective side cut. A softer ski will be forgiving to learn on but as you advance you will quite quickly be wanting something stiffer as it’ll provide much more support and performance to allow you to increase speed/power.
 
just looking at the specs I think the brahma 88s would be great in the bumps but potentially a little stiff and heavy for a beginner/senior citizen? if you absolutely need a mogul specific ski to feel good about learning buy id one mogul skis but if not I say save the $ and really hit the moguls hard when its slushy late season conditions and things are forgiving
 
People recommending IDones's are trippin' I think. The Dude is old and looking for an entry level mogul oriented ski. IDOne's are the highest level mogul comp skis you can get and would utterly rock his ass.

Idk man they make models where they split the edges so the ski is purposely softer. I can't imagine that'd be harder to ski than a brahma, but I could be wrong.

Yeah, I kinda figured that out on my own....same goes for the 189 wets....thanks for being real. Anyway I bought Volkl Deacon 2023 7.2 in 158 length. Soft. (beginner skis - but I will just use them till I get better on the bumps, then get rid of them). Thanks for all your great suggestions and insight.
