Soft Boots

Looking for a really soft ski boot. Have a bad ankle and have a hard time flexing. Looking for input then will go to local shops to try on those boots. I know you will say go to shop to try on boots.

I have a pair of full tilts, and i love them. You can adjust how soft you want them by changing the tongue. They are a bit expensive, but if its anything you should spend money on, it is a pair of good boots.

I had hot doggers from a few years ago and like dthem alot. Just wished they were softer. I may do what you said. I'm thinking the drop kicks then a flex of 4. Would be perfect for my ankle.

Go to the shop, have them size your foot and then tell them you also want a soft flexing boot. Whatever full tilt you can fit into (if you can) you can always get a softer flexing tongue.

Soft boots may not be a great idea for a bad ankle. What exactly is wrong with it? Have you been properly fitted before? It may just be that you need positioning correctly an then just have the boot support you. Have a boot too soft may mean you over flex and could be worse for the ankle.

Definitely going to echo this point here. Far too often I hear skiers asking for a "softer boot" when in fact this can cause more issues than solve. If you have a limited range of motion in your ankle, then a soft boot will do nothing to help keep your ankle in place. If the boot is allowed to move more than your ankle is, it will allow your ankle to flex past its usable range and cause some damage.

Do yourself a favor and see a boot-fitter who will perform ankle flexibility and range of motion tests. He will then find a boot stiffness that matches your flexibility so you will have a super comfortable and supportive set up.
