Soft boots in pow

I have been looking for stiffer tongues for my Hot Doggers (due to being in stiff boots prior), but having said that, the #6 isn't even that bad in pow. I ski Bent Chetlers about 60% of my ski days, and prior to FTs, I rode a 120 flex Technica Inferno. Between the two boots, in deep pow, with fat skis, I have not noticed an immense difference. I just put this out there, because I hear a lot of people saying "You need stiff boots for soft snow!". I have landed leaning full forward into pow off a 20ish foot cliff, and not felt like my boots were folding on me at all, and I am 6'1", and 185lbs.

Is there something that I am missing here? If a mid-sized guy can freeride in a flex 6, what's the advantage in going stiffer?

+k for actual help, and yes, I have used the search bar.

I'm a fat-arse and I've skied my SPK Kaos in bottomless jap powder with no issues at all. The skis you'll be on tend to be much softer than the boots anyway.

I guess a stiffer boot would give you a tiny bit more control over big, heavy skis but personally I've never got to the bottom of a run, wiped away all the pow that has covered my goggles then gone 'aww man I wish I had stiffer boots on'

I have this crazy theory that softer boots let your tips rise in pow, especially when you end up too far in the front seat. I also don't think that super stiff boots are a cure for poor skiing technique.
