Socialism...

true communism (marxism) has never truely existed. 'communism' in russia and such is really Leninism. leninism is not socialism but, state capitalism. FYI: Socialism is slowly being instituted in america (ex: welfare, minimum wage, illegalism of monopolies,etc...)

Actually el presidante... limited forms of socialist programs and socialist aspects are catching on. Maybe our country isnt a socialst nation, but certain aspects mirror some aspects o a socialist commonwealth.

Also, don't try to say that we live in a democracy. At most, the United States is a republic, in which you elect officials, who will make all the decisions. A Democratic system would be ancient Greece, in which every issue was voted on by all the people. our form of government was taken from the ancient romans... I fail to believe in calling America a democracy, because by definition, it is far from.

i tottaly agree with you on the democracy thing, I recognize that the USA is far from a democracy. I see what your saying about social programs, its too little though. There's still 53 percent of all Negroes living in the ghetto. And when they do something about it (LA riots) the government just lies to them, the programs don't get instituted and the poor stay poor. I don't think we're moving towards socialism at all. I think the government does just enough to persuade the general public they care.

I really can't express what I want to say on this forum with the typing and all. It's like che said, they're just words on paper and I don't have time.

I feel you though.

Anyways, Andy wins, but not winning.There will never be a system of goverment that will make people happy because the poor simply think that money will make them happy. Which is bulshite. Socialism/Communism is about the poor majority not being as poor and not being taken advantage of by the rich. As long as these superficial factors are valued, they will be doomed. Freedom is a right, a neicesity (sp?). Wealth is what keeps us working to get the rich more money. How could the working class be happy? Start working for themselves. And take the initiative, themselves. They're too comfy.

phatt tim...i shouldnt have said if people were perfect. i meant if people didnt have the desire to be better than other people, and didnt constantly want more. if everyone was happy with what they had then i think it would work. but it never would...does that make any more since?

Portugal, Ireland, Greece, Ecuador, Ukraine, etc. . . whether or not they are truly socialist is debatable, but their socialist policies continue to fail. Hell even our social policies continue to bog down the U.S.

My one problem with socialism is that it doesn't take into account dumb people. Maybe a group of intellectuals could get together and make it work and still innovate or a country could make it work if the bulk their population lived within close proximity to a large consumer nation*hint hint*, but you need to let the dumb people live their lives out without holding everyone else back. The more i read into marx and engles i find that they understood this problem and their solution was to find a humane way to put undesirable people down. i find that. . .uh. . . how you say? fucked up.

Now before you call me uneducated and we begin to argue please tell me how you feel about socialism.
